    Engineering at various universities

Out of those majors, mechanical would be most closely related to Civil. You'll get a lot of units accredited when you transfer assuming you're not too deep into the mechanical side of things, e.g. Thermodynamics/fluid mechanics have little relationship with civil eng.

    What's studying engineering like?

The biggest reason imo why uni is harder than high school is because of motivation. You wont be grilled if you skip lectures, dont do homework, dont attend tutorials (its really easy just walking in the room, signing the form and walking out so you get 100% attendance rate). Just go to every...

    What's studying engineering like?

    1. I'd say 18-24 hours per week is about average. It's manageable, and yes you can balance a part time job as long as it's not too much (mileage may vary) 2. HSC Engineering will help you a lot for your first Civil eng Mechanics course in Yr1 Sem2. But remember that's only 1 course out of the 8...

chances of making it to med

How do you figure that? You never know, man.

    ATAR Reports and Scaling tables

How can 48.4% of people receive >70 ATAR? Isn't an ATAR defined exactly so that only 30% of people can receive >70 ATAR? According to basically everything, an ATAR is a percentile rank. Am I missing something? edit: similarly, how can 16% of people get >90 - it therefore follows that 16% of...

    Interstellar Thread

Even if it wasn't Nolan directing it, I'd still love it just for the themes and subject matter. I think it's sad that space exploration is so undervalued in society (US defence budget is something like 40x that of NASA). If the money spent on the unnecessary F-35 was spent on space, we would...

    red hot chilli peppers rocks!

    Yeah i'll be there

    Should I keep ext 2?

    Immensely.

    How lenient are Uni cutoffs?

Engineering and Science are quite lenient. Have you looked at bonus points? The only difference is you won't get your offer in the main round, you'll receive them a few weeks later.

Chem Engineering Coop vs Actuarial studies at UNSW

Those two fields are on opposite sides of the spectrum - pick what you enjoy. But to answer the question, yes it is possible to transfer from Chem eng into actuarial. Do your own research, too - first year courses aren't exactly representative of what the field of chemical engineering is like...

When are the state rank lists released?

http://www.boardofstudies.nsw.edu.au/ebos/static/TAINC_2014_12.html ^ this link works It's out guys, good luck :) (I think I see a few bosers there in MX1 and MX2)

When are the state rank lists released?

I am so ashamed to go to UNSW

    Martin Place Hostage Situation

Unconfirmed. 7, 9, CNN, sky news are all reporting unconfirmed stuff as 'confirmed'. ABC news hasn't said anything about deaths because it isn't 100% confirmed yet (i.e. proper journalism)
  15. B

    Specialisation

A lot of junk, too. The hard part of googling is separating relevant info from junk.

UNSW: Bachelor of Arts and Business OR Macquarie Uni: Bachelor of Commerce

UNSW Internal Transfer Program. https://student.unsw.edu.au/ipt-business You'll need a WAM of 75 to transfer into commerce from B Arts and Business.

    Science @ UNSW experiences?

It's good. It's only rival in NSW is sydney uni and I can't really compare having never studied at USYD. One difference is the talented students program at USYD applies to all single or double degrees involving science, whereas TSP at UNSW is only offered to people studying Advanced Science...

    Putnam competition 2014

    Lol at 'Patniss' and 'Keeta'.

Why study medicine and why do you want to become a doctor?

Because I get high on the smell of triclosan. Looking forward to med so I can secretly smear that liquid all over me and bathe in it. (serious though that stuff smells amazing - its the pink soap they use in hospitals)

    Counterstrike Global Offensive Thread

Had the biggest loss streak ever because of exams and now I'm nova 2 lmao. I was MGE up until the end of sem 2 though :(
