    Some more coordinate geometry questions

    26) To find the line, we need gradient and a point. We have the point, it is (a,b). We need gradient. We know that the tangent is perp. to the radius at the point of contact. So we find gradient of radius (0,0) to point of contact. m(radius to point) = b/a m(tangent) = -a/b Point-gradient...

    Some more coordinate geometry questions

    27) x = tcosθ + a -> cosθ = (x-a)/t y = tsinθ + b -> sinθ = (y-b)/t Divide to eliminate 't', tanθ = (y-b)/(x-a) Isolate y, y = (x-a)tanθ + b Test (a,b): b = (a-a)θ = b, works So y = (x-a)m + b where m = tanθ as required

    Bachelor of Commerce and Economics

    It's a good combo, especially if you will pick a major in commerce that would receive mutual benefits from the realms of economics or vice-versa.

    HSC 2012-2015 Chemistry Marathon (archive)

    re: HSC Chemistry Marathon Archive I read on the interwebs that hydrogen bonding is a specific version of dipole-dipole force. That is, hydrogen bonding is a dipole-dipole force but with interaction of specified atoms (H, F, O, N). Whereas, a normal dipole-dipole is associated with any atoms...

    Shorter solution to this trig question?

    Another possiblemethod (\sqrt{3} +1) \cos ^2 \theta - 1 = (\sqrt{3} - 1) \sin \theta \cos \theta 1 = s^2 + c^2 \sqrt{3} \cos ^2 \theta - \sin ^2 \theta = (\sqrt{3} - 1) \sin \theta \cos \theta Divide by c^2 and note that cos(theta) != 0, i.e. theta != ... \sqrt{3} - \tan ^2 \theta =...

    Making notes

    My legendary highschool teacher taught me an ancient technique to achieve mastery of content. Without aid of anything and just a blank sheet of paper and pen/pencil and a topic in mind. Write down all you know as if you are teaching it to someone. This is time consuming but is INCREDIBLY helpful...

    Hours spent studying Maths Extension 2

    Focus on task-based studying sessions rather than gaining hours. You will increase producitivty and efficiency in your studies. This way, when you reflect on your study sessions, you'll get a more accurate feel to how much work you have done

    Mental arithmetic expectations and discussion

    Thanks everyone for their input. I've encountered many parochial and ignorant friends who believe this statement (in original post) and it irks me Little pop quiz: what logical fallacy is being commited in this statement (in original post)?

    Mental arithmetic expectations and discussion

    My bad. I have made too many assumptions yeah like maximum of multiplication of two 2-digit numbers and addition/subtraction of 2/3-digit numbers

    Mental arithmetic expectations and discussion

    Fudge... failed the wording. Suppose that I said "noticeably remarkable mental arithemetic skills" computing mulitiplication of two 2-digit numbers in under 2 seconds computing addition and subtraction real quick, like 745+889 or 350-145 (under 2 seconds)
