    probability question

Your method makes total sense, but i have an alternative here which i am in a slight confusion: I have the same denominator being 52C5. For numerator, i have 52C1 to choose the first card, then i have 1 choice out of 3 to complete the pair. However, i have to divide by 2! due to the fact that...

    Simple De Moivre's Q.

    z^2=i let z=rcis(x), polar form for i=cis(pi/2) this means r^2 cis(2x) = 1cis (pi/2 +2kpi) therefore equating moduli and arguments gives: r=1, x= (pi/2 +2k pi)/2 where k=0,1 so your answers are z1=cis(pi/4) and z2 = cis(3 pi/4)

    Trial paper problem

Hi Frank, I think in your solution you've assumed the car is falling downwards along the line BA, hence you claim resultant force is (mv^2/r) *cos(theta), but i think the resultant force along BA should be 0 as the car should not be sliding up or down

    error in the question?

hi all, please see the attachment, i reckon Q5c) is erroneous as a quintic polynomial needs 5 roots, not 4? Am i correct? Also, just to be super sure, Q6a(ii) we need to do y1 - y2 and not y1 + y2 since y2 is under x-axis correct (y1 is the parabola, and y2 is the semicircle)?
  20. M

    Looking for solutions

Tye moriah 2001 is indeed a hard paper, but i think question 5 regarding the quintic polynomial, it cant have only 4 roots right? Hence invalid question?
