General Thoughts: English Advanced Paper 2

Mannnnnn, module B is going to hammer sooo many people. For the first time in 11 years or something, they specified a poem in Yeats, and the other options with multiple texts. Among School Children was the poem I prepared for most, so I am absolutely over the moon. Other Modules were fine.

    Section 3 - Extended Response

'As You Like It' tied in so well. As did 'Of Mice and Men'.

    Creative paper 1 whaaaaaat

Also, teachers who have taught the respective set texts mark the respective essay responses. This isn't the case with creative. Meaning you're adapting a text that a teacher may have little idea about. I don't think this is likely to happen.

    Creative paper 1 whaaaaaat

The amount of secrecy and potentially punitive consequences surrounding the release of information regarding the exams would suggest that BOS shouldn't, and couldn't (?), release anything in an article that only a certain percentage of the candidature would be privy to? Fuck I hope we don't...

    Creative writing - Quote stimulus

I don't think it matters too much. Not sure though.

Using chain rule, \frac{d}{dx}cos^{-1}(\frac{-1}{x}) = \frac{-1}{x^{2}\sqrt{1-\frac{1}{x^{2}}}} Let each arrangement of the letters D E L E T E D be a word. How many words are there where the D's are separated?

    What elective is everyone studying?

We did Catch-22, Hiroshima and The Spy Who Came in from the Cold. Catch is so good. But our teacher made sure we had a bank of related texts to draw from. In the trial I used '1984' and Ginsberg's 'Howl'. Both fantastic. If you've never read the later, it's a pretty long poem. Read it. My...

    What elective is everyone studying?

I did After the Bomb this year. It's fantastic. I'm glad my teacher chose it. The After the Bomb period is almost 50 years, which means there is a shitload of suitable relateds, themes to reflect in creative etc. Hope you come to enjoy it as much as I did.

    English Advanced - Yeats

Possible. Minimal. Wouldn't stress too much. Although, I'd try to get some material before Wednesday, cover all bases etc.

    So... who's ready?

Ready for everything but SDD. Haven't cared about it for the last two years, it'll probably be my extra 11th and 12th units. Lucky I've got a whole week off before the exam so I can just cram. Just keep doing past papers now I guess.

    Induction question

I get the jist of what you're saying. But aren't Pk+1 and Qk+1 unique for all k? But the question asks for a method "using induction", how would you solve our problem with the step n = 1?
  18. E

    Induction question

Oh yeah, not sure about that. They're unique for n=2, n=3 etc. Doesn't restrict n such that n> 1 some where in the question?

    Induction question

I'm assuming the first two steps were done okay? Making the substitution from assumption in step 2, in line 3
