    Ahh preferences!

If it makes you feel better mate, last year this time my top preferences included international studies and commerce.... by the time the final deadline came (early january) engineering was top of my preferences. so dont stress just put what you may be interested in and keep researching to get a...

Society has a fetish for anomalies proving that said statement is wrong.

    getting into unsw

Taking the HSC again would be just so dumb beyond words. Go into a BSc first year. Work as hard as you can. Im not sure the fine details of first year UNSW subjects but if there are any electives gear them to maths. If your marks are high enough great. If not theres the Mathematics major

A reminder: there is life beyond the HSC

Such good words (yet people around USYD still think hes the biggest prick to walk on the face of the earth). Raises a good point in it. The amount of times Ive heard the 'I really just want to do *insert course name here* but I got a 99.7 so i should do law because otherwise my ATAR is wasted'...

Just want to know the types of jobs you can expect to get from these and how well the pay

    3 weeks till HSC

True. But then for example comes the realisation in some courses you can do what you want anyway. Best example is a person who wanted to do International and Global Studies at USyd (ATAR 95) which they didnt get so now theyre doing a BA doing exactly the same subjects they would ahve done. The...

    3 weeks till HSC

Im not saying dont study Im saying not kill your self studying or worrying to crazy extents. So option one you get into your course great. Whether you get 0.05 above your cutoff or 10 atar points above the cut off, no on will care in a few months. Option two is going to surprise you. If...

    3 weeks till HSC

Chill out people. This will not define you. 12 months from now you'll forget your exact ATAR to two decimal points and no one will as you what you got. You'll be doing some uni course thinking back to hsc and laughing at how worked up you got over it

Selective High Schools & Scaling in the HSC

Being somehow who spent most of his schooling at a 'shit school' with a top half of smart kids and a dumb half of complete idiots and finishing off my schooling at a selective school Im probably in a really good position to compare. (but also compare year size of about 60 at the shit school to...

    14 Units for HSC??

just do it #yolo seriously though it depends what you want to do after (because thats really the sole point of HSC not getting to define yourself by some number) Id say either Maths (lowest rank) or German (cohorts with some small numbers always get a bit dicey). If you want to go into...

How does one pinpoint what it is that they arent enjoying about their course?

Strikes more so in the atmosphere they create rather than the strikes itself (although though are a bit of a experience ruiner as well). Ive spent a lot of time trying to pinpoint what the problem is but cant decisively say 'this is whats getting me down' all i know is theres something thats...

How does one pinpoint what it is that they arent enjoying about their course?

Thats what Im trying to figure it. I know I should change something im just not sure what. And I dont want to end up changing the wrong thing

How does one pinpoint what it is that they arent enjoying about their course?

Well in HSC my favourite subjects were Biology, Maths (3units) and Economics (English (3units) and Modern were enjoyable but liked the others better). Bit of a last minute decision but thought a biomedical engineering course seemed like a good idea. Only discovered the course a few days before...

How does one pinpoint what it is that they arent enjoying about their course?

Somethings not right with me and uni this year. Im not sure if its the general subject area of my course (i.e. if ive picked something that doesnt interest me as much as i thought), the university Im at (i.e. if im not happy with how things are taught or the structure of the degree and think its...

Semester 2 USYD Chatter Thread 2013

Fucking hell. Completely and utterly sick of it. Im sick of getting atrocious abuse for walking to my classes, Im sick of having my entry onto the campus blocked and cop even more abuse for simply trying to get through. Im sick of being made to feel like some inferior insect for choosing to go...
