Re: Australian Maths Competition 2013 Oh yeah... One of the questions I guessed cause I was running out of time and I had no clue how to do it.

I'm doing music 1 this year and I don't think it's really aimed towards vocalists more than anything else. I play piano and clarinet but I play piano for assessments and stuff. I've only done one viva voce which was on our Jazz topic and I don't think the vocalists went any better than anyone...

Study your butt off and you can do it!!! And your mum's right. As soon as you give up, you have no chance.

I'm sure you'll be fine. I'm pretty sure you'll beat the guy that fell asleep after an hour. If you found it difficult, then the others probably did too and I'm sure you'll maintain your ranking. Chin up. You've done incredibly well. :)

Re: Australian Maths Competition 2013 At least you got the first 20! The first 10 I got okay. Then I got tired and struggled (Had chem and 3 periods of maths prior to the exam) and then wrote random numbers for the free response ones which I've done every year. I deserve a prize if I ever get...

Phew. Well my school ranking is going to be crap but at least my course cohort might be okay... Okay. Probs not. Except 4U next year. I'm gonna be coming 2/2 but at least the cohort will be strong. [emoji39]

Stupid question. Your cohort is only the people in your course right? Or is it your whole year group?

You can do it!!!! :D I'm aiming for UNSW but it's more of a mental "I can go there", when in reality I'm too lazy to travel. I think I'll still go to the open days and stuff next year to decide if I want to make the effort.

I avoid drums at all cost. I'm pretty sure I'd break something. And at least you have 7-9 child labour. We have no super commited music students to carry on our leagacy once we leave, which also means that we have to pack up and move anything. Then again, we can be touchy about our instruments...

DIGITAL PIANO!! And there was two of us carrying it then we got a trolley to help us. There's no way I could carry a piano. It took 15 teachers and Year 12 students to move our performance piano out of the hall before renovations. It took three people just to move it into another room! My...

It's basically if I'm given a starting note I can (usually, depending on how awake I am) work out the next part of a melody from that note.

Haha. I can get just over an octave but I'm pretty tall. I have relative pitch, but I haven't worked at it enough to be very good at it. I usually just mess around with melody lines from songs or this composition I have to write... [emoji30]
