worst/best english novel you have ever read in school?

aaaaaaanddd the book was awful because every time I read it in my head, I had an urge to read it in a deep-southern accent.
  3. I

    Assessment thread.

What was your assignment? Were you using Legal Studies Preliminary textbook? Ours was on the court hierarchy. I too got full marks. Good job!

What's everyone planning to accomplish these holidays?!

???? How can you all sleep for so little? I heard the night before an exam, if you have studied, get more sleep rather than studying more, as it is better to retain information. Then again, if there is no information to retain, study. I sleep for 9hr minimum, every night. 10pm-7am is usually...

    Maths Ext 1 - Sketching/Limits Question

Thanks guys/girls - I wasn't aware that lines could travel through asymptotes without being discontinuous.
  6. I

    homosexuals

Saying that other people can't marry because of YOUR religion is like saying other people can't eat donuts because YOU'RE on a diet. Gay marriage does nothing bad to the economy, is easy to implement and the majority of the population wants it. What are we waiting for?

    Maths Ext 1 - Sketching/Limits Question

Well it begs the question - is it really an asymptote? When you substitute Y=1 into the formula, you get X=0. I wrote this in my book: When x>0, y(cannot equal)1 When x<0, y(cannot equal)1 When x=0, y=0 Then drew the graph, but didn't mark y=1 as an asymptote as the line travels through it.

    Assessment thread.

Ehh I looked like I came across as a douche :/ But I was trying to convey that I was surprised that so many people had really high aims - but who else would come on a website to discuss studying eh? By looking at the marks in this thread, GIVE ME YO MX1 SKILLZ NAO

    Maths Ext 1 - Sketching/Limits Question

Oops! The way I wrote the formula didn't come across properly. It is y= 1 + (x/x^2+1)

    Maths Ext 1 - Sketching/Limits Question

Hi everyone, I got the question below out of our textbook (Maths In Focus - Preliminary Ext 1 - Exercise 5:11 Q5f) "Sketch" y = 1 + x x^2+1 Do it in a book or on a piece of paper. The line seems to go through 0, 1 but the problem is, is that it approaches 1 but never...

What is everyone's Shakespeare this year?

So so true about Bas Luhrmann's film killing the whole plot about Romeo and Juliet. I mean come on - Mercutio being a transvestite?
  13. I

worst/best english novel you have ever read in school?

I found TKAM awful because: The teacher made us read it as a class (This was in Year 9 btw) The people reading can't pronounce words with more than 2 syllables The teacher stopped us every four lines just to analyse them The teacher gave us ridiculous amounts of questions The book as a whole...
  14. I

worst/best english novel you have ever read in school?

Best: Darren shan series, great great books. Worst: Tough one. A Midsummer Night's Dream was awful but not technically a book as such, probably To Kill a Mockingbird
  15. I

What is everyone's Shakespeare this year?

Hi everyone, I know many of you are doing your AoS this term for Adv English, but I was curious as to what Shakespeare's you are doing/have done. Year 9: Merchant of Venice (great teacher=good results) Year 10: Macbeth (okay) Year 11: Romeo and Juliet (play was alright, Shakespeare in Love was...

    First impressions of yr 11

Is it just me, or are all the teachers nicer, get through more work and just better at teaching than previous years? And people who prior were dickheads have become less dickhead-like? Maybe I am imagining things.
  17. I

    assigments already

My SoR assignment (1U) is to make a ~5min video about why are we here and other pseudo-psychological crap, pretending we are a reporter. Modern History will be a source analysis test, and I have yet to start Legal Studies (just changed from Phys)
  18. I

Not enjoying physics at all, last week to change subjects?

I switched to Legal Studies, and I start on Wednesday. Seems far more me than Phys. If I consider doing B. of Aviation at UNSW, then I will do a bridging course if required, which is says that Phys. is recommended, but not necessary.

How are you finding chemistry? New preliminayr students.

Haven't started Gravimetrics. Are you guys all using Conquering Chemistry? We are flying through Chapter 1. Up to 1:13, scheduled to get an assignment/test soon.

How are you finding chemistry? New preliminayr students.

I'm enjoying Chem a lot. Maybe it's because i'm with my friends, but I am not too sure. I think that all you need to do is every 2 weeks or so, get the text, and summarise work and notes. Chemistry is highly practical-based, so doing that will help significantly. Our class just finished...
