No, you need no prior commerce or finance knowledge to complete Actuarial Studies (or even B Commerce for that matter). However, saying that, you will experience less difficulty in picking up some concepts, if you do have such background knowledge.

Also, as far as I'm aware (i.e. from the research I've done), only UNSW offers it.

Tbh I don't think it is unreasonable to ask your parents if they could pay for it. In my eyes, its equivalent to something along the lines of school fees.

IIRC, your UAC ID/registration number is just 1ABCDEFGH, where ABCDEFGH is your Board of Studies student number (which you use to log in to Students Online, for example).

Let me try to help as an actuarial studies student who similarly did such research and has gained some insights this year, from getting to know more actuarial students from both universities across different year levels. Tbh first of all, imo, don't get too deadest on what major you would do...

1) You probably can. But some supervisors will be anal, and tell you off and say that we'll give you more when you run out. Just ask before the exam or in reading time, and if they say no, then live with it. As soon as you start your last page of the writing booklet, continue writing but shoot...

Tbh imo either one could work well. It just really depends on how you execute it.
