    I reckon the CSSA papers better reflect the HSC; Independent papers have a lot more longer response questions, which there aren't that many of in the actual HSC.

    Yep, dw you're all over it! You should download "Geogebra", a free graphing program which makes it really easy to see whats happening with graphs and why a graph looks like it does.

    no, your answer is correct for the vertex and focus you specified. The answer they have given swaps the co-ordinates of the vertex and the focus. i.e. focus(-1,1), vertex (-3,1).

    for Q13 set up an equation like M = Ae^{-kt} and use the conditions t=0, M=A and then t=1600, M=A/2 to find k, which you can then use to work out the percentage. Just be careful with what percentage has decomposed vs what percentage is remaining.
