Could someone define all the types of discovery for me?

You should also consider whether they are transformative (as in they drastically changed something whether it be external or internal), or whether they are indifferent or uninfluential. Also consider the process undertaken to reach that certain discovery. But anyway most things are covered in...

    Studying or "Winging" an Essay

At first I normally write a general essay, but then in preparation for an exam I just wing it. I would use quote tables and under each quote have analysis that would fit most points in the rubric. Sometimes I might memorise a thesis or some nice phrases but that usually comes automatically when...

    Economics vs Biology???

Probably economics since you're already doing two sciences

    2018ers Chit-Chat Thread

At least you've started off well. A mate of mine said that doing well in your first assessments gives you more confidence and you tend to continue doing well for the rest of the year, as long as you put the hard work in, so hopefully that happens!

    Studying/HW for year 11

Try doing your work at a library. Especially when there's a few students around, you're more likely to feel 'pressured' to do your work since everyone around you is doing work...idk works for me. Also, I'm pretty sure there's this software thingy you can get on your laptop that temporarily...

    Studying?

a bit funny how the teachers don't let you leave, but what you can maybe do is work on more intense work in the first period when you're fresh, and then do easier tasks like reading during the second period. Maybe go for a walk around the library haha!

To all those who went to selective high schools

Although our school ranks well it is surprisingly really chill (well for prelims and the first bit of yr 12). It might be because we don't get ranked from year 7 like other selective schools and during prelims ranks weren't such a huge deal because teachers wouldn't share them publicly. But it...

Discovery creative writing, is this idea too violent?

Your story should definitely have some tension to make it interesting but it doesn't have to be structured like a pyramid where it starts chill then rises to a climatic point then resolves. But since it's on discovery, maybe start just a bit before the climax (the discovery) and then focus more...

What is the best way to critic your own work.

Critiquing your own work is quite difficult because you can easily overlook your flaws, so I suggest getting people to read it eg. friends, family, teachers. However, reading your creative out loud may help to highlight areas that need more work, because if it sounds weird out loud it most...

Discovery creative writing, is this idea too violent?

Violence shouldn't be a concern with this idea as long as it's not the main focus of your creative. Furthermore, if it is a diary entry, you can convey fear of the violent nature of war through narrative voice eg. tone of the character, the specific words they use. The only thing you need to be...

Keep 2U Mark or do 4U?

If you wanna do 4U because you generally enjoy doing maths then go for it, however, if you're doing it purely because of scaling or something then there's no point in doing the subject because the workload is huge, plus you have an incredibly good 2U mark. What you can do though is start with...

Year 11 Tips? HELP...advice for these subjects

nah not doing music ext because that would have placed me at 13 units which is way too much! If I remember correctly, we had two performances: one had to be a baroque piece and another from 1600-1900, which was pretty crap for me because I play the sax. Can't remember specific pieces but there...

help! have a made a bad subject choice?

The good thing is that music consists of performance, musicology and composition (basically), so if your strengths don't lie in performance you can still do well in musicology and composition. Musicology is basically music theory, so that involves analysing pieces uses the concepts of music and...

    Tips before starting Calculus?

You don't need to know anything before starting calculus because it is a topic that doesn't really need any prior knowledge, however, if you want to start learning it- because you don't really get into it until the end of year 11- it's not too hard to teach yourself. You should start with...

Wow 6.5hrs every day is so impressive!! I struggle to force myself to do like an hour each day haha If you feel really happy doing your school work then keep doing it!! However, if you start to feel exhausted then it's ok to take a day or two off to chill or hang out with friends. These...
