    Integration

    I'll do it for you: (1 - 2k + k^2)(1 - k) = 1/2 (1 - k)^2(1 - k) = 1/2 (1 - k)^3 = 1/2 1 - k = (1/2)^(1/3) 1 - (1/2)^(1/3) = k k = 1 - 1/(cube root 2) Is that right, Lukybear?

    Concavity..?

    12x(x - 3) > 0 Concave up means f''(x) > 0 As Lukybear said, draw the parabola (attached). From the graph, 12x(x - 3) > 0 (or positive) when: x < 0 x > 3 BUT since you say the answer is 0 < x < 3, I assume you meant 'concave down'? In that case, from the graph (again), 12x(x - 3) < 0 (or...

    Distinguish between a moral right and a customary right.

    Moral rights are those rights people believe they are entitled to because of their private moral values or wider moral values. Customary rights, on the other hand, are those rights people believe they are entitled to because of a custom, developed over time.

    Speer's claims

    Speer wrote in his memoir, Inside the Third Reich: Hitler entered and was tempestuously hailed by his numerous followers among the students. This enthusiasm in itself made a great impression on me. But his appearance also surprised me. On posters I had seen him in military tunic with shoulder...

    Well, since we're going to be writing an essay and since the 'key features and issues' make up the essay questions (most of the time), the below might be of some help in your preparation: Which key feature(s) and issue(s) do the 'students learn about' dot points relate to? Key features and...

    Area = 1/2 (mx - x^2 + b) (m^2 + 4b)^(1/2) [Underlined = Constants] Rearranging that: Area = 1/2 (m^2 + 4b)^(1/2) (mx - x^2 + b) d(Area)/dx = 1/2 (m^2 + 4b)^(1/2) (m - 2x)

    Concavity..?

    Yes, you do. The second derivative is used to determine concavity. Taking the example of a parabola: A maximum stationary point corresponds with a concave down parabola. A minimum stationary point corresponds with a concave up parabola.

    Concavity..?

    Another example for you :): Let's say the question is 'find for which values of x is f(x) = x^3 + x^2 concave down.' 1. First, find the first and second derivative: f'(x) = 3x^2 + 2x f''(x) = 6x + 2 2. Then, find the values of x for which the second derviative is negative*. f''(x) < 0 6x +...
