    HSC 2015 Economics Marathon

Re: 2015 HSC Economics Marathon Seems weird that schools would test on it still if it hasn't been on an HSC exam nor even makes an appearance on the syllabus

Testing times: selective schools and tiger parents

racism noun the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics, abilities, or qualities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races. Why, in your opinion, do asians have higher IQs? Not a loaded question...

    HSC 2015 Economics Marathon

Re: 2015 HSC Economics Marathon My point is that it's not necessarily actually in the course. Riley covers it (Dixon doesn't) and schools like Barker put it in their trials, but I have a feeling that's a hangover from a previous syllabus. If you look at the hsc economics syllabus, whereas...

    HSC 2015 Economics Marathon

Re: 2015 HSC Economics Marathon Out of curiosity, regarding questions like: Assume that C = 100 + 0.7Y and I = 200, what is the equilibrium level of national income? Have these ever actually come up on the HSC? Particularly under the current syllabus, not like 15 years ago

    Penrith Selective High School Hacking

Great point, we shouldn't care about anything that happens to anyone at any other school Sentiment still applies though doesn't it?

HSC 2015 MX2 Permutations & Combinations Marathon (archive)

Re: 2015 permutation X2 marathon You have 8 shirts which are grouped into pairs - so there are 4 distinct pairs of shirts, each pair consisting of 2 identical shirts. How many arrangements of these shirts are possible with no pairs together? You can do it case by case, but is there a more...

    Fountain pens

Used to use a Lamy Safari, recently started using a Pilot Kakuno, and have a couple of Parkers on the side. I don't use them for exams or exam practice though because I find my legibility and speed a lot better with a Pilot G2 1.0. Anyone use any interesting inks?

Chances of making into Hurlstone Ag (Currently year 9)

Strong, strong thread derail happening here, but what counts as a b6 is basically arbitrary. Potentially no one in the state could get a band 6 if the examiners saw fit. The examiners set marks based on the descriptors of a band 6 in that subject so that a band 6 in one year should be the same...

Extension 2 Math and Extension 2 English

Yep, still on that grind. 100% worth it, both very rewarding subjects.

    2015ers Chit-Chat Thread

Legit advice time though, pretty sure cloths aren't against the rules if you just want something to wipe your hands with. Alternatively if you have a blazer or a jumper that's a part of the school uniform there's no reason you can't just wipe your hands on that. As to preventative measures...

Ask the invigilators for a glass of water and then pour it all over your hands mid-exam. The sweat will wash right off. Side effects include wet hands.

    2015ers Chit-Chat Thread

Ahahaha what? Surely your teacher gave you some of them? It's not necessary to read them all, and it's probably a waste of time to do so, but there are some killer readings in there. They're very good for giving you historians and debates to throw into your part 1 essays.

Just have a look over all the important readings you've been given, that'll usually give you good content to talk about.
