Join the new UTS Business Society!

Hi All, A bunch of really enthusiastic 3rd year Bachelor of Accounting students at UTS have established the UTS Business Society! It is affiliated with the university directly and has already established corporate partnerships with the likes of the ICAA and KPMG. The society will be operating...

bachelor of commerce vs bachelor of commerce/bachelor of economics

Bachelor of Economics, majoring in Financial Economics and Finance, and then do honours in Finance? Or Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Finance, aiming for a Distinction Average or more and combine with Law second year? I don't really think 3 commerce majors will make you more employable...

    UTS Bachelor of Accounting 2011

Congratulations! As to whether to take a cadetship instead, I'm not the best person to ask as i didn't apply to cadetships except a last minute effort for kpmg, which yielded no result. I would say consider this: UTS Bachelor of Accounting

    UTS Bachelor of Accounting 2011

BAcc starts mid January, normal uni is around early March. Some lectures are recorded, but definitely not the majority. Attend lectures where you can as for some subjects the lectures are far more valuable than the textbook, such as business stats. BAcc students attend normal lectures, but...

    UTS Bachelor of Accounting 2011

HAHA, it had it's moments. A fair few in jokes, many of which I didn't even get. I spoke to a few people there who were in Year 12, 2 guys from barker and a girl from oatley.

    UTS Bachelor of Accounting 2011

Haha don't get too caught up on what will be asked in the interview. I don't think it's strict, they can ask what they want. I don't feel my interview was really strict, it was flexible in terms of what was asked, and my responses seemed at times to direct the interview. But you will likely...

    UTS Bachelor of Accounting 2011

Hey I don't think anyone has got an interview offer yet. No one I've asked has has had any correspondence from the uni. Try and stay positive, my list of extra curriculars wasn't particularly flash either. Hopefully you will hear from them very soon and best wishes to you all :)

    UTS Bachelor of Accounting 2011

Best wishes mate! I can't really think of any other advice for the lateral thinking questions other than google maybe? If interviewed, it will be by 2 people. these could be ex bacc's (usually at sponsor companies), uts staff, or other representatives of the sponsors. I had a...

    UTS Bachelor of Accounting 2011

Until recently, the uni promoted the course as having a 100% employment rate over the 20 years its been running. Recently, they changed that figure to greater than 95%, for reasons I do not yet know. Many people are taken on as grads by one of the companies they did their internship at, some...

    UTS Bachelor of Accounting 2011

Nah man, 3 year degree with TWO industry placements. First one is in semester 2 of year 1, and the second one is in semester 1 of year 3. This link (UTS:C10235v1 Bachelor of Accounting - Business,UTS Handbook 2010) explains it pretty well, except you do Accounting For Business and...

    UTS Bachelor of Accounting 2011

I personally don't think it means a lot. The schools comment might mean a bit but the ATAR estimate isn't hugely important, so long as it's > 85. My estimate was 80 - 90 and I got nearly 92, so I think they would have learnt to take the school's estimate with a grain of salt. The grade rank...
