Does anyone feel like they're getting lazier towards the end of their hsc?

You'll be fine, even with maths doing not so well still means your going to get a band 6 your rank will pull you up, as it will for chemistry. I on the other hand have been gunning it for society, hoping for a state rank or 99 in the exam. Chemistry, my jar of give of a fuck is completely empty...

Raw marks + society and culture

if your cohort is strong this year, then it can help because you all will do well together. A higher amount of good marks means that there is a greater pool of marks to choose from. This is good for both you and your cohort. I on the other hand go to a school that does not do so well in society...

Advice on two subjects in one day

To drop or not to drop that is the question?

Raw marks + society and culture

Its hard to make a definite distinction but I'm pretty sure that if you crack a 55/60 in the exam and a 32-33/40 in the PIP you can hit a band 6. Society is probably of the only subjects that gets scaled down because of the lack of the strength of the cohort. Usually you will find that the...

Advice on two subjects in one day

Yes we go to the same school. I've spent a lot of time thinking about it, and wouldn't it just be better to concentrate on absolutely acing a subject that I know is easy and I can do well in than risking the majority of my time in attempting to save something that is dead/dying already. Like I...

Advice on two subjects in one day

I've already tried it and even if I got a 90 which is the maximum that I believe that I can achieve for chem, with hard out studying, it still won't count because I do maths extension + adv and all those English and modern. So unless I get a band 6 there is no way that chem will count in any...

Advice on two subjects in one day

Ahh, but you underestimate my enormous powers of procrastination. I just don't think that I will be able to consume all of the chemistry syllabus plus prepare enough for society to get my 98 which is what I am planning on getting :( I hate the HSC it just wants to screw me over one last time...

Advice on two subjects in one day

Hi guys, Just looking for your advice on whether I should go hard out for both my subjects on Tuesday - Chem and society or try and study more for the one that I think I could definately do well in. Our school hasn't had a great history with the sciences, last year no one got a band 6 in any...

Who is pumped/not so pumped for modern history tomorrow? :P

International peace and conflict considering it was the last topic we did and we basically rushed through it...so hopefully if I can survive Indochina, I can get through the rest of the exam.

Official: 2012 Modern History HSC Exam predictions thread

Peacemaking is very limited but I guess you would talk about the Geneva Accords, attempts at triangulation, Detente, the process of Vietnamisation.... I really don't think that it will be this question, they cannot make it too narrow or no one will be able to address the question. I have...

Who is pumped/not so pumped for modern history tomorrow? :P

But aren't you the optimist? Don't worry, it will be okay, one of the best things about modern history is that you can bs your way through it when you get stuck. I'm pretty excited.

Official: 2012 Modern History HSC Exam predictions thread

I am feeling either a question on the power struggle or foreign policy. I think this would be a great combo because everyone typically studies Stalinism and the Bolshevik consolidation of power and many people often neglect foreign policy because its the last topic and the power struggle because...

What would this mark align to??

Will the differences between my rank and the one below me make a huge difference, because I am the outlier in my cohort, the mark below me was an 85. So if my cohort does not perform as well as I do, does it bring me down at all? Again I'm still not very sure about the scaling aspect.

    Average Cutoff for Band 6?

I am just going off what I have been told by my teacher and the other markers that I've spoken to. I'm aiming high and don't really need to worry too much about the cut off, plus I haven't had too much experience with logistical aspect of marking. With this said, I have always been told by my...

What would this mark align to??

Last I checked it was 111 and the highest mark for modern we've every received was a 95.

    Average Cutoff for Band 6?

Actually it is, my teachers uncle is the one of the supervisors of marking this year and he says that it changes and fluctuates depending on the difficulty of the exam and the questions. So one year a 85 may not be a band six whereas other years it will. There is no set cutoff, so you'll just...
