    What are you currently Reading?

I loved the two Katy books! Haven't read them in ages though. I'm currently reading Frankenstein for the Romanticism elective in extension. Not sure if I did the quote thing right, sorry if I mess it up.

Chem and Bio questions by dot point

There are a couple of books with past HSC exams and worked answers that have an index arranging the questions by topic (such as Excel Success One. Otherwise there are the DotPoint textbooks, which have questions by dot point, but they aren't past HSC, and I think they only have one or two...

    English Books

Captain Corelli's Mandolin by Louis de Bernieres has an extensive vocab and is a really good read

    Galvanic Cells practical

We did it and all of our values were super low (I think 0.8V was the highest). It could have been having less contact between the metals and electrolytes or metals and voltmeter clips, or a dodgy voltmeter, or our salt bridges (filter paper soaked in a third electrolyte) only just touched the...

    Anyone else doing Max Potential?

I did it last year and it was great! So you should do it. But yeah it can be time-consuming and a little stressful, but I was doing 14 units last year and did it. Just choose a project that you have the time to complete :)

Module c- need related text urgent

This Lime-tree Bower my Prison, a poem by Coleridge. I'm not doing People and Landscapes but the other advanced class is and my extension teacher recommended this for mod C when we studied it in extension.

    Subject Selection

My maths teacher is very supportive of the idea of doing maths for the skills you gain, not just the mark you'll get out of it. Because if you do a maths subject at uni, you can frequently get away with not having done extension 1, but it makes it a lot easier at uni if you have already learned...

Quick question on "black and white" as a literary technique

Sounds fine to me, but don't take my word for it, I'm not saying that with any authority at all. Or monochromatic palette?/monochromatic colour palette?

What do your teachers think of us???

I mentioned to my Extension 2 English teacher that I put my idea for my major on the forum and she was all for it, thought it was a great idea and a great way to get people's feedback. And my friends all love it

Discovery Related Help Needed - 'Life of Pi' - Poem preferably.

On First Looking Into Chapman's Homer by John Keats. It is a set text for prelim but our teacher said it was a good one to use.

Using an English Ext. 1 text for discovery

My extension 1 teacher is a HSC marker for Advanced and while we're doing texts in extension she encourages using them for discovery and module C. As in "This would actually be a really good text for Discovery, because you have he transition from the negative mindset to the positive one using an...

    Science Research Project ideas

First-hand or secondary source? Or both? This is more biology related, but some doctors believe that diseases such as lupus and MS are caused by a bacteria, and treat it using a two-year long course of three types of antibiotics. I know a person who had MS and has been symptom-free for five...

I'm doing it! I have my proposal due in a few weeks, in a Viva Voce format. I'm not very good at talking but oh well I can bumble through 20 minutes...

    3 days until school starts...

Just chill :) If you have any homework that was given last term, do that. Otherwise enjoy these holidays because they are some of the last days you'll be free of school-related responsibility for almost 2 years.

    Related Material for Romanticism

I've decided on: Common Sense, Thomas Paine London, William Blake Snowstorm: Hannibal and his Army Crossing the Alps, J. M. W. Turner Darkness, Lord Byron I'm worried that they all verge on the dark or the political, without much on nature or eternity. Thoughts?

Idea: If time could be bought and sold

Thanks for that, I will have to check out "In Time" and "'Repent, Harlequin!' Said the Ticktockman". I haven't yet wrapped my head around what it would mean for a person's lifespan, I was thinking that at first it would be used on a personal basis- eg. a person waits at the bus stop for half...

Idea: If time could be bought and sold

Hey, I want to write around the idea of time being a commodity, as in, having financial value. I know it already does in terms of wages, but if it could be bought and sold as something tangible, how would society be affected? I want to comment on how the value of time would change: rich people...

    Related Material for Romanticism

My prescribed texts are Coleridge's poems, A Vindication of the Rights of Woman and Frankenstein. I have to choose four pieces of related material, what do you think about 'Darkness' by Lord Byron to go with Frankenstein? I have a list of possible related material here, any feedback would be...
