What combination should I do? Got combined law offer for 2014. So confused!

Oh no i don't mean you can't get a clerkship at big law firms if you don't have connections. I meant it as if your answer to the question of why work at corporate law firm is being rich, you will not be given a clerkship unless you know like a partner or something. Most of my friends in older...

What combination should I do? Got combined law offer for 2014. So confused!

It honestly doesn't matter what degree you combine with. Just do what you will enjoy if law is what you want to practice. I actually know more Arts/Law than Commerce/Law students clerking at law firms. If you are looking at job prospects, then it would be Commerce/Law. This combination allows...

    Your BCOM Major and Minor

Actually the most popular major is Finance followed by accounting. About 1100 students do FINS2624 (a core) and about 800 students do ACCT2522 (a core) every year. The cores in other majors are nowhere as popular.

What should I combine law with at UNSW? I want to work in a corporate law firm

Actually it can be quite helpful. A lot of the big firms are now expanding internationally and knowing more about a region or language can be quite helpful. There is no ideal candidate. They look for various things and mainly whether you will fit into the firm. I say just be yourself and if they...

    Should I go to Usyd?

I don't do science but does our uni offer a major in environmental science? Honestly you can't go wrong with either decision. Both unis are equally as great. Just pick what you think will let you have a greater time at uni.

What should I combine law with at UNSW? I want to work in a corporate law firm

I have spoken to the HR of many top tier firms and they say it doesn't matter. They only care if you do law. Doing commerce is a bonus but not essential. You got to remember that there are so many practice groups at law firms e.g. Construction, corporate, intellectual property, tax, dispute...

    Does UNSW Scale?

Yes law courses are scaled. They are required to fit you in a bell curve according to your lecturer's students. If your lecturer has too many students with HDs and Ds some will need to be scale down and similarly, if most people are getting pass and credits, then they will need to be scaled up...

    CP maximisable

Maybe I should give a full example. The weighting for one of my courses was 10% CP (Maxmimisable) 40% Mid Sem 60% Final Exam As you can see it adds upto 110% instead of 100%. Assuming in both scenario you get 30/40 for mid sem. Scenario 1, 7/10 for CP and 48/60 for Finals. Your final mark =...

Taking a double major : possible to complete in same time as a single major?

So it is my understanding that you have 3 marketing subjects already, you are doing 2 now, so you only need to do 3 more marketing? This leaves you with 5 more subjects. You will need to do another 5 for business law so that's it. However, I believe you only did 1 general education course so...

    Transfer recognition

You can apply for credit transfer. Some courses will be credited and so you won't have to do them again. However, the marks you get won't be transferred, only that you did it. Usually the courses that getting credited through transfer are ones that are the UTS equivalent of the UNSW 1st year...

    CP maximisable

It means CP only counts if it will likely to boost your final mark. It is usually maximisable against the final exam although some courses do it against all assessments but generally just final exam. So for e.g. if CP is 10% maximisable and final exam is worth 60%. In scenario 1, you get 7/10...

Taking a double major : possible to complete in same time as a single major?

I am sure with a Commerce degree, there are some spare units left unless that has disappeared as a result from the 42 UOC to 48 UOC for a major change. So you might still be able to complete it in time. I am assuming you are now in your penultimate year? Assuming so, penultimate + final year =...

Taking a double major : possible to complete in same time as a single major?

Probs best to check with student center. Have you considered either summer school or overloading?

Taking a double major : possible to complete in same time as a single major?

You can definitely do 2 majors under a B Commerce. Most people do. What it means by the free electives is that, those UOC are free for you to take a major in the Arts Faculty. When they say they need you to do 1 course from the ASB, is that the 1 of the remaining 7 subjects must me from the ASB...

    Computer Science/Law?

transferring out of commerce has been your smartest decision!!! I am not liking commerce anymore... well Finance at least but almost done so ceebs restarting a new degree and/or major

    Computer Science/Law?

Yeap. In the end most firms (big 6) don't care what degree you combine law with. You might as well do something you enjoy. Not to mention the practice groups at Corporate Law firms are really diverse e.g. banking/finance, construction, energy & resource and IP.
  17. T

    Computer Science/Law?

I am not doing it but when you transfer for Law, you are competing for a law spot rather than a ____/Law stream. So you will be competing with other students for the 100 spots that are guaranteed for internal transfer. Once you get a spot, you can then pick your combined program if your original...

    UMAT!! Times

There are 2 umat sessions, 1 in morning and 1 in afternoon. The reason is because there isn't enough room for everyone to do it together. The papers differ from student to student, questions get jumbled. If you have time before your UMAT exam, buy a train ticket in advance. The queue after exam...

courses that are only available for one semester

Class times are really random as it depends on availability of lecturers and venue. However, they usually will stick to the same days or close to those days.
