    Costs and Moving Out

Oh my god, thankyou so much Sidicious. Hadn't even thought of like half of those even on the necessities >.< As for moving out later - if I move out during January, I'll have a summer job in Goulburn [45 minute drive from my current home, hour drive from Queanbeyan], and it'll be a summer...

    Costs and Moving Out

Ahaha no, my mum's not letting me take the mattress or the bed from home xD. I could always scab the couch - and anyone who sleeps over'll have an airbed to sleep on. [Yeah, friend's probably getting a new couch for Christmas] Hmm to an extent public transport'll work, something like a $6...

    Costs and Moving Out

I'm actually not going to have a bed for a few weeks xD. 'Til I get my lump sums from Centrelink. I'm relying on those far too much >.< But that means I can probs get an airbed fairly cheaply and borrow a sleeping bag from home for a few weeks, saving some money as I work out exact details of...

    Costs and Moving Out

My parents are paying the bond - until I get my Centrelink payment lump sums, at which point they're getting payed back. Estimating that - including water and electricity bond - to come out at at least $1000? I've put that on my "immediate spending" list -.- Toiletries, I hadn't though of...

    Costs and Moving Out

So I'm going to be moving out at the end of the HSC. I've been working on a table of costs and income and such, but the numbers I've gotten for electricity and water, I'm not sure how accurate they are. Can anyone tell me how much they're likely to cost? Thanks :) Also, is there...

    band cut offs

Re: Band 6 Raw? Ahaha. Just no. There were a few tricky questions, set out differently and with less information/more need for thought [oh look, a trend with our year's papers] required, but that was a few questions and if you can think, most of them were fine. Otherwise, the rest of the...

    General Thoughts: Mathematics

I thought that... For a while. Then I realised that you didn't need an A value, or the Q value, because that was either A/2 or A/3 and when you divided that by A, it turned out to be 1/2 etc, so it was great. Lost about 5 straight marks through the last bit of Q9, and a few other marks in a...

    Commonwealth supported scholarship?

If you're getting payments through Centrelink, you're supposed to get the scholarships automatically. I'm talking about Rudd's Studen Start Up Scholarship [the $2.2k one] and the new Accomodation Scholarship [the 4k one] only. I just wish I knew exactly when, because the only dates are "as of...

What we can laern from the general paper

Meh, if it -is- harder, then scaling will take that into account anyway. The trials that I did, at least, were also really easy, so it'd probably be fair to say the HSC should be substantially more difficult.

Any Tips for Q9 and Q10 in HSC

DO NOT sit there and go "awww, screw this, writing out a full page of algebra for 2 marks is so not worth it" Because you'll probs get a mark. D: Which is exactly what I've done almost every time I do a practice one >.< I still get 5/12 most of the time, on Q9 and 10.

    raw mark for band 6?

I'm curious too >.< So I'll bump this. Past exam thoughts, mayhaps.

How hard is it to get 70 in 2U Mathematics?

Which is still better, anyway - technically the original person can drop 40 marks and still get 70-or-above.

How hard is it to get 70 in 2U Mathematics?

This thread's made me feel pretty good. I'm 4/7, though only a mark behind 3rd. I have no doubt that at least the 3 people beating me have done over 80% on past HSCs in revision, and I can get at least 90/120. I'd be surprised if the top two guys got under 100/120 in the exam. Thankyou, and...

New SMH Article: Changes to English/SOR leaving students vulnerable

I'm not in any way referring to the rest of the question. It said "ONE" text, that is my point. If you misread that as "TWO" texts, and wrote two, then you may have answered the rest of the question, but not that particular bit. And no matter how much English is based on subjectivity, that's a...

New SMH Article: Changes to English/SOR leaving students vulnerable

Sweetheart, if they say "ONE" related text, then misreading and writing two is absolutely nothing to do with your ability to interprete a question. I wouldn't go calling someone an imbecile when you're lacking the mental capability to understand that clearly setting the number of related texts...

New SMH Article: Changes to English/SOR leaving students vulnerable

Yeah, some people would have misread it. It'd probably be like one mark if they even did. If you look in one of the "Hot Topic" threads on the front page about it, they apparently decided that you won't. But like I said. If I misread, say, 5 questions on my maths paper, I'm liable to lose at...

New SMH Article: Changes to English/SOR leaving students vulnerable

I'm going to ignore the direction the last few posts have taken, and give my thoughts on the English paper, as that's the one I actually did. I honestly hope that anyone who wrote two texts does lose marks, as they did not read the question. While I believe they've established this won't be...

    Moving out after HSC?

I plan to go at the end of the HSC, with a friend, to live in Queanbeyan. I've been watching the rent prices for a while now, and they're currently going down. Youth Allowance + Rent Assist + a job are going to be the only way I afford to stay there. And the job can't be more than 15 hours a...
