Did your classes actually finish the Prelim course?

oh wow. I didn't think this was such a widespread issue. In any case, my PDHPE class only finished 2 cores and 1 option. You're supposed to have done 2 cores and 2 options.

Giving up Facebook for Year 12

I used to use StayFocusd on Chrome and that just weaned me off facebook. It was good because on my computer, both FireFox and IE failed to meet the speed of Chrome.

    Locus help?

Actually I cheated and used a LaTeX equation editor. Then copied and pasted the phpBB code ... Using TEX tags would probably be quicker though.

    Cambridge checkpoints

I've looked at checkpoints and didn't particularly like them, so I'm a bit surprised to find that people here think they're useful. For PD, I found that Dot Point is AMAZING. It's not a textbook, but the answers at the back are concise imo.

What's everyone doing in the holidays?

oh wow. You guys all seem so studious! I'm going on camping in the first week, and plan on just reading and going out with friends in the second week ...

    Rank

No. Not explicitly anyway. We get a box and whisker plot and if you're ranked well, it'll most likely be in the teacher's comments.

    Help? Linear functions (coordinate geom)

D lies on the AD and OC. So you solve the equations of AD (part i) and OC (given) simultaneously.

    Physics HW

I feel like this is an entire past paper minus the multiple choice. It doesn't help that all the lines are in between making it a chore to read.

    Dealing with procrastination

That's actually really good. Like for maths, I write down all the questions I need to do, and cross them off one at a time. This sounds incredibly stupid, but it makes me happy when I can cross one off every 5 minutes. LOL. =(

    Help with physics prac plz?

Physics 1 textbook has all the pracs aim, method, results set out. You can download a simple electric circuit simulation off a quick Google search and do the experiment.
  16. F

    Is this experiment reliable??

    What do you think?
  17. F

How to improve the accuracy of a calorimeter experiment?

if this is the experiment I think I did a few days ago, then uhm. The heat can escape the water surface, and its therefore advisable to have a lid to prevent that heat escaping.

Teachers not allowing students to pick a subject

He'll have done 5.3 maths then. That is very strange.

    Computer Programs for Study

LaTeX? It was a bit complicated at first, but an hour later, it's pretty simple. I've tried using iBooks Author and my notes have turned out alright, but of course, that's only applicable if you have a Mac and an iPad.

    Picking up ext eng

You can't pick up any subjects in Year 12 unless they're extensions. The HSC course requires you to have completed the preliminary course.
