I think I know the answer to this debate... If we all scan slower... they will roster on more staff for checkouts! =)

ok for some reason the self-serve machine is set to accept any weight for produce items, so if someone weighs 4 apples (not in a produce bag) say the total was 1kg, then they place 2 of them in the bag, the security scale thinks that 0.5kg is the weight of the apples (i.e. 2 apples), then they...

I don't understand the quantity issue... if you put something through as 2 x an item why wouldn't it count it as 2 items?! It might speed up the scan rate but self-serve has the lowest scan rates out of anyone on registers! In my opinion I'm going to use the POS screen as much as I like...

Great post very interesting. With this produce issue... it happens a lot!! eg. customer puts 2 apples in the bag then another 2 and then it says unexpected item!! The solution: the weight that the produce is weighed at should be the weight it expects in the bag!

I fully agree with your 3 points. 1. "please wait for assistance" ... when nothing is wrong!! 2. yes it is ugly 3. Doing credit card signatures is stupid... no ok button etc. 4. When customers complain about them I just agree with them lol

yes but it is completely different, very slow and calm! probably a good thing so the customers don't think that they are being yelled at.

it is very sad :( my life feels so empty without that NCR lady's voice haha "Welcome please scan your first item..." "Thank-you for shopping with the Fresh Food People!!" She was a lot happier than the new one as you will soon find out!

there is no way to turn the volume up since the upgrade :( ... the button under the screen no longer does anything.

The new bag button is good and they have improved the removal of bags but the new voice is slow and too quiet and when an error comes up on the screen all it says is wait for assistance and you have no idea what the actual problem is and usually there is no problem at all the sco just confuses...

Self Serve definitely doesn't reduce staff levels. It may mean that there are less people on express (eg. 1 on self serve and 1 at service desk/smoke shop) or more on bulk. Woolworths is always hiring especially now ready for christmas etc. The main benefit of self serve is to reduce that huge...

ekull44... at our store the Go Live day of WowPos SCO was the day that we started using the new software. i.e. it was installed that morning at 5am. But the regional champ was there the day before to start organising it.

Went to work today trying to have a positive attitude about the new WoWPoS SCO but seriously it is terrible. My list of issues with it goes on forever, it's like we have gone back to the very first self-serve ever made!! :( Not on our normal registers but on the "new" self-serve yes!! how...

Well my original 8hr self-serve training a year ago with an NCR lady was the best really enjoyed it. :) Do you know if you were being trained for ncr or wowpos software? And you don't realize the issues until you actually use it in the real environment. Good luck!

Good question... not sure though. I think that the sales summary is now available on the computer for the office to see and most likely the signatures too. Seems silly to print them when they are already in an electronic format.

For things like fresh meat products or deli items... the SCO knows what weight it should be by what the meat weighs (according to the sticker) when the butchers weighs and packs the item. So I would blame it on dodgey butchers! lol I was told that self-serve is meant to learn (like a human...

Yeah I have had that a few times... also happens with the signature pad, just means that they are not responding/ gone offline. Has anyone else had this situation: Amount due: $5.01 > customer presses Debit > Other amount > $5.00 > Processing > Amount due: $0.01 > NCR SCO frozen and doesn't...
