General Thoughts: English Paper 1 (AOS)

I didn't even learn this skill!

General Thoughts: English Paper 1 (AOS)

If mod C asks two related texts, sorry but I don't have them.

General Thoughts: English Paper 1 (AOS)

Uggghhhhh why do I have exams until November...
  4. SuchSmallHands

General Thoughts: English Paper 1 (AOS)

Why is standard harder than advanced? What? I would not cope with having to find 4 related text and know them in depth
  5. SuchSmallHands

General Thoughts: English Paper 1 (AOS)

I seriously think if they specify two related texts for mod C I won't have enough time to get through the essay. In AOS I only had time for two arguments on my prescribed and one on my related...

General Thoughts: English Paper 1 (AOS)

An old guy retires and feels sad because his life had always been his work and he had no friends and stuff but then he went to a cafe and people were nice. 15/15; v deep.

General Thoughts: English Paper 1 (AOS)

Yeah, belonging didn't really throw anything unexpected except in the layout of SA and the specificity of creative, I hope paper two isn't too rough but I think you're right. Does everyone hate that person now?

General Thoughts: English Paper 1 (AOS)

It was so weird! Like the new AOS doesn't come in until next year guys, we still actually study belonging? I think creative was the only section that actually used it as an integral term to the question?

General Thoughts: English Paper 1 (AOS)

Yeah I'm really worried I didn't mention belonging enough, I was torn between using the key words of the question ('connections') and our AOS. But I definitely under used belonging, I think I only actually said that word once or twice in my whole essay! I filled the section for the essay, went...

General Thoughts: English Paper 1 (AOS)

I actually have to go to Tafe to do my bridging courses (yeah, note the plural, there are three. The summer holidays are going to be loads of fun) so this is not joke for me haha

General Thoughts: English Paper 1 (AOS)

That's not too bad, at least you didn't have to totally disregard it. Couldn't believe we got that specific a question as well as the stimulus!

General Thoughts: English Paper 1 (AOS)

My aim was UNSW, but Randwick Tafe is pretty close, it's almost the same thing?
  13. SuchSmallHands

General Thoughts: English Paper 1 (AOS)

I know it was horrribbllee, especially since it didn't give you the much opportunity to write about not belonging (which was what I wanted to write about!) The question was a lot more prescriptive/specific than in the past imo

General Thoughts: English Paper 1 (AOS)

I didn't have anything memorised, just a rough idea of a character and situation. Had to change the situation a lot, but could use the same scenario (it was about a man who had gone into retirement and felt like he didn't belong anywhere when he left work). Lucky I didn't spend any time...

General Thoughts: English Paper 1 (AOS)

It's on it's own thread in the Paper One discussion section :)
  16. SuchSmallHands

General Thoughts: English Paper 1 (AOS)

Did anyone remember a creative and have to either ditch it/significantly change it so that it would incorporate communal belonging?
  17. SuchSmallHands

General Thoughts: English Paper 1 (AOS)

Did anyone else think it was really weird that the AOS question didn't include the word belonging?
  18. SuchSmallHands

General Thoughts: English Paper 1 (AOS)

Ah good, I'm so relieved right now! My teacher told us to talk about all of them and one in depth for the longest short answer, but that's because they usually have a superlative term like 'the most effective' or whatever and we were told to justify why the one we chose was more effective than...

General Thoughts: English Paper 1 (AOS)

Exactly what I did! I wanted to write a second but there just wasn't enough time :(
