I'm in WA so Labour Day isn't on 6/10 here. I guess I can be categorised as quite new (started April this year) but what's the point of me going in to work and having them send me home and then trying to find a replacement? I really dunno man...should I or should I not call in a sickie? I can...

Why tough? I'm asking this question because I'm having a very very bad dry cough at the moment and I keep coughing every couple seconds. I don't know if I should call in sick or not because it may make me look bad? :( I don't really wanna disappoint my supervisor anymore because she kindly...

Just a quick question. Would they send a staff member home if the staff member is obviously sick?

I think if you're employed in their store, you should be on their roster. There's staff on our rosters that are on leave for more than a week yet their names still appear there. There's just no hours attached to their name. Maybe you should check with your supervisor.

Someone told me at work today that they sometimes pluck checkout people off the registers and put them to work in other departments. I was taken off checkouts and put into deli for around 20minutes to serve customers today. My supervisor called me off my register and my store manager told me to...

Hey Townie, thanks so much for the tip on scanning. I'll try that this weekend when I work and I'll see if my scan rate goes up! :D

We have those automated labels now because there's self-serve checkouts in our store and they're a pain to scan sometimes. Does the customer not mind if I scan the bunch of stuff, press enter then pack? I mean, there'd be a heap of "subtotal" on their receipt? Lol.

I do that too but sometimes we need to look for produce in the computer. But even if I scan fast, I need to bag the stuff and sometimes that's the killer. :(

babikakez, how do you know if the supervisors are conducting mode of sale(?) assessment?

Me too. I dislike the green bags. I've found a new respect for them today after a colleague "challenged" me to fill them up nicely and fully hehe. It was fun but I hate it when they're all crumpled and when the bases (that black thingy at the bottom) are removed. I can't stand the damn thing on...

Haven't been on for ages. Have been on checkouts for almost four months now! :P Yea, when I first started, I got quite obsessed with looking for the barcodes on products. ;) I still do sometimes! KaaN10, - Cant identify different types of produce. --> This takes time. You'll slowly get used...

I can't really hear it when the store's open for business but after the store closes, the music becomes alot clearer and you can hear it alot louder in the staff toilets too. Hahaha!

I never had to do a produce test. How come? Lol.

    Rules for Customers

For customers buying those 18pk or 30pk of soft drinks and especially the FRANTELLE 24PK WATER, don't bloody put it on my belt when you KNOW the cashier can ring it through for you without scanning it. Saves you taking it out once and saves the cashier killing his/her back bringing the damn...

Yea I so agree with the above. If I work full days, I'm normally hungry when my break times come, unless they're spaced like near each other, which has happened before lol. I was thinking that she was anorexic or something as well.

I'm on probation at Woolies too. Just do your job well, don't slack off and be punctual. You should be fine then.
