    Question about HSC scaling

    Fair enough thanks mate
  2. Q

    Question about HSC scaling

Yeah that's what I thought but the concepts of either 1) Doing really well all year then getting a headache or something exam day and failing 2) Not doing great all year then acing the exam and state ranking seemed slightly absurd.
  3. Q

    Question about HSC scaling

How does a class of one scale? From what I understand if a class is made up of a single person their HSC mark is pretty much entirely dependent on the final exam. Unless it's influenced by school rank and past performance, or perhaps the assessment mark itself?
  4. Q

    mod 6 phys question

I'm not 100%, but treating it like this pearson textbook question, I think the answer would be C. As the part of the wire is dropping in height, the earth field strengthens at a max rate, and so by Lenz's law the wire counteracts by emitting circle fields which go in the opposite direction of...

    What defines as "better" gearing?

Yeah like Jimmy said, by being to cautious I mean if a business has too low a gearing ratio it’s becomes a detriment as the business is not making full use of its “capital loaning capacity”. I thought the “advantages and disadvantages of debt/equity finance” part of the syllabus would apply here...
  6. Q

    What defines as "better" gearing?

Ahh that makes alot more sense now, I must've got my numbers confused because I ended up with a gearing lower than 100% lol. So just to make sure the best gearing is circumstantial right, if say the business was in fact geared at something like 20% this would be bad as it would be too cautious...
  7. Q

    What defines as "better" gearing?

This is really grinding my "gears". Is higher than the industry average better because you're encouraging growth? Or is lower better because its lessening risk? In the context of this questions and its answer (D), it must be the former, but does that apply to all circumstances? Surely...
  8. Q

    How do i solve this

Ah right, that makes more sense in the context of the syllabus, thanks for correcting
  9. Q

    How do i solve this

For the water, HCl is being introduced into the solution over the time period, populating the water solution with H+ (and Cl- , as the solution is now Hydrochloric acid). The pH number decreases at a decreasing rate meaning the solution is becoming more acidic but slowing as more HCl is...

Need help with 2 chemistry questions!

For the second question, rearrange the equation in general form giving C3H4 + aH2 ---> bC3H8 Here we can see the equation can be balanced with b=1, with 4 Hydrogen atoms needed on the reactants side to do so the coefficient of H2 is 2 so a=2. End result C3H4 + 2H2 ---> C3H8 with a=2 b=1
  11. Q

Need help with 2 chemistry questions!

For the first question, I believe what you'd want to do is find all the products between the isotope masses and their relative abundances (so for the first one 32 x 0.511, second one 33 x 0.325, etc.) and just add them all together to find the average atomic mass, which would be the defined...

    Trig Integration Question

Well, that's embarrassing. Thank you so much though

    Trig Integration Question

The circle x^2 +y^2 = r^2 has radius r and centre O. The circle meets the positive x-axis at B. The point A is on the interval OB. A vertical line through A meets the circle at P. Let Theta=angle OPA. The shaded region bounded by the arc PB and intervals AB and AP is rotated about the x-axis...

    u Substitutes for Integration

Oh right, fair enough. So ext1 exam markers expect it all the time and in advanced it's personal preference?
  15. Q

    u Substitutes for Integration

Do the majority of people use u substitutes all the time to save writing out working? Do you use them on simple questions and all or only on longer ones? Just wondering.
  16. Q

    u Substitutes for Integration

Really? Sorry mate I'll put this in the extension 1 section.

  18. Q

for those who got 99+ what did your study pattern look like

Like a whole ten weeks of study and revision on top of the gap between trials and HSC? Jeez how is anyone else supposed to compete with that.
