You are allowed to choose whatever text type you like for ANY module; AOS, Modules A-C. It is not recommended however as it does not demonstrate critical literacy or the ability to deconstruct a variety of text-types or media.

The syllabus requirements remained the same, just the prescribed texts changed. Anyway, I wouldn't be using pre-2009 exam questions as practice. If you would like any of your practice essays marked please PM me for details :)

Mrs_missile.....I just read in another post that your prescribed text is Skrzynecki's immigrant Chronicles'. I would definitely not use 'Submarine' for this prescribed text as it doesn't deal with the immigrant experience nor is it dealing with issues of belonging in a similar 'age bracket'.

Which version? There are a few? Do you know the Director or actors in it? Also, what is your prescribed text..because that makes a difference... If you are referring to the 'teenage heart-break' film directed by Richard Ayoade I would reconsider; I can't really identify and STRONG belonging...

Tan's 'The Arrival' is a TERRIBLE choice for 'Run, Lola, Run' as many students already use this text for their ORT for 'Belonging'. I would definitely steer clear of this one (WAY over-used) and look for something a little different.

Absolutely! A general rule of thumb is that if you have to ask whether an ORT is overused, the answer is yes. Aside from that, if you are aiming for top Band 5/6 I would be looking for a more 'academic' text. What is your prescribed?
