    Chemistry or Economics?

I didn't take Eco but I did take Chemistry and I had a little peek at the new syllabus material from Matrix (lol) From what I saw, there are alot more calculations than long responses about the environment and whatnot Imo, I would take chem because I do know that Eco is heavy in content and...

    Notebooks

For English, I would recommend using a thin binder folder imo bc you write less and receive more handouts For Sciences and Maths, I understand if you want to keep everything in a book but just get a 128 and buy another if you need it 200 is heavy and kinda unnecessary

    Favourite study food/snacks?

I literally have a thermos bottle with warm water and a cup. Whenever I need a break, I sit and pour water, evaluating life.

All nighters or wake early in the morning?

Personally, all nighters are okay if I like the subject because then I don't mind staying up. I also like working early in the mornings, like 4-7am when its all quiet and you have the whole house to yourself in a way but I would say that it's best to sleep before 11 if you want to actually wake...

    Holiday before Year 12

Hey guys! I'm sure there have been many posts about this topic but there are about 3 weeks before Year 12 starts and I'm a bit nervous and I would like a 95+ ATAR, so I was wondering what to do during the September holidays and the December holidays, or just any holiday in particular haha...

Been slacking more than a decade - need advice (subjects, habits)

Thankfully it's only Year 11 so nothing goes towards anything. I'm in the same position as you - going into Year 12 very soon and I think during the September holidays, you could revise some of the Year 11 content (especially things you are weak at) so you don't fall behind in Year 12. You...

    Sigilearners Hurstville

Went there for a term in Year 11 and I actually thought it was quite good. The classes aren't that big and they go into detail with specific stuff but the homework is textbook work. I don't know if it's like that for Year 12 but textbook was a little ehh .. But's not bad, I would recommend.

    Year 10 Formal

In my opinion, if you don't want to go and you don't mind being a little left out of formal talk with friends prior to and after the event, then you shouldn't have to force yourself. It seems like your friends will be talking about it for a while and that's also quite normal, so as long as you...

    Writing vs Typing notes

Thanks! I'll most likely start by typing out my syllabus points in detail and then filtering out when I write it out so I can commit to memory and increase writing speed.

    Writing vs Typing notes

Hey! Just wondering whether it is better to write or type out notes. I know that writing it helps to commit the content to memory but time-wise, it's probably better for me to type it so I was hoping to find out what the general consensus is. What do you guys do? :)

    How to effectively use textbooks

Hey guys Just wondering how to use 2 textbooks efficiently. Before the start of Year 11, I purchased the MX1 Cambridge textbook but my school uses another for classwork/homework. I've read great reviews on the Cambridge book and it's good so I want to do exercises from it but I've never found...

Fort Street year 11 entrance exam Quick Question.

Hey so I'm pretty sure I've made a post about this somewhere but I'm not sure where that went either LOL Anyways, for English, it usually has something to do with politics and when I did it last year, there were no narratives or creatives Instead you read an article and formulate some sort of...

Tables & Graphs in Science exams

Hey so my AT3s are next week and according to my past science exams, it seems like I can never get more than 2-3/5 marks for tables and graphs in science questions. Can someone clarify how to draw them and what to label because it seems like these skill-based questions are always dragging me...

Year 11 Fort Street Entrance Exam 2017!!

Hey Milly! So, I took the Fort street entrance exam last year and in all honestly, it was quite difficult even though I was attending a selective high school. Maths: The biggest issue for me the content because the exam covered topics that I haven't studied or learnt yet so that was a big...

Dropping 3u Maths for 3u Language?

Hey guys! Current Year 11 somewhat struggling with Extension 1 Mathematics and now thinking about picking up Extension Japanese for Year 12 and dropping Maths. Not sure if it's a wise idea. I haven't received my ranking yet but percentages are around 60-70%~ after 2 exams. Would love thoughts...

    NSG vs HGHS vs SGGHS

NSGHS > HGHS > SGGHS Nsg has more opportunities, with a lot of events that students can participate, along with lots of emphasis on rep sport, so morning trainings, spending actual money on jerseys and they have events such as Games Day, Trivia Night, Senior Dance and whatnot. I'm not too sure...

    Year 11 selective entrance test

Hey thank you so much! I'll be sure to brush up on my scientific knowledge to. You seem to know a lot about the HAST, any tips for the Fort Street exam by any chance? :) I'm also taking that exam and I'm still quite nervous since it's closer.

    Year 11 selective entrance test

Hey, I'm also applying for a selective school this year and the exam is pretty close actually haha. I'm actually not too confident about my last semester's report, I had a whooping 4 Bs in all core subjects and moving to a better school seems so impossible. But I've improved heaps this...
