re: HSC Physics Marathon Archive omg, that's like asking why 1 + 1 = 2.

    Pendulum prac

You could hypothesize that when you graph T^2 vs length. The reciprocal of the graph multiplied by (4pi^2) would equal to g. Writing how you rearranged the pendulum formula might help.

Physics 2 mc questions need help

closest is A though (4N) but the answer was B (8N)

Physics 2 mc questions need help

I tried doing your first question and got 0.012 newtons o_O F = mv^2/r v = 2pi0.25/6.52 m = 0.05 r = 0.25 = 0.012 newtons. Where did you get this question from? I think it's wrong cause 8.5 newtons when dealing with such a slow speed and low mass doesn't sound right or maybe i'm just doing...

    Physics knowledge tests

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz they keep making mistakes, they keep using m/h instead of m/s. Gonna tilt during the exam cause of this.

    Physics knowledge tests

zzzzz. Question 7 for space is wrong. They multiplied it correctly to turn it into metres/hour, but they forgot to divide it twice to change it to m/s

    Difference between Validity and Accuracy

Basically validity is if what you're doing is correct. Validity in first hand investigations A valid experiment is a fair test (one variable is changed at a time). A method is valid if: - It investigates what you think it will investigate. The procedure tests the hypothesis and the experiment...

    Who's doing it this year?

Thanks for this. I understood you're working, I just still have no idea what they mean by "equilibrium temperature". It would be a lot easier if they just asked what the temperature is for Vout = zero. Hopefully they word things differently in this year's exam :L EDIT: I understand that there...

    Who's doing it this year?

I have another question Can you please help me with question a part v I don't really know what they're asking for in this question. http://www.boardofstudies.nsw.edu.au/hsc_exams/hsc2012exams/pdf_doc/2012-hsc-exam-physics.pdf

Subbing in Orbital Velocity into Kepler's Law of Periods

    I found my mistake. I did v = 2(pi)r^2/T instead of 2(pi)r/t Thanks for that ^_^

Subbing in Orbital Velocity into Kepler's Law of Periods

When rearranged with Gravitational force = Centripetal force you get v= √(GM/r) but when you sub in orbital velocity into kepler's law of periods and you rearrange you get v= √(GMr) Can someone point out what I'm doing wrong?

    Question

Answer is A. Sin30 is required in this as the wire is not perpendicular to the magnetic field. Just note that if the magnetic field is going into/out of the page then in most cases it will be perpendicular to the current unless the current is also moving in/out of the page.

    Anyone have notes for this

bump, still looking. Anyone else doing this topic this year? or planning on doing it?

    Anyone have notes for this

I already got these note http://members.dodo.net.au/~phizz/ageofsilicon.html If you have some sources please share it with me. I also can't access the age of silicon chapter on this http://www.jaconline.com.au/physicsnsw/book2.html So if anyone has it please link me.
