My school only let the very top of 5.3 do 3U. It varies from school to school.

Carbonation of Soft Drinks help please!

Carbon dioxide is a gas, so one mole of CO2 would take up 24.79L (assuming SLC). So figure out how many moles have been dissolved and use molecular weights. And I think this could be asked in a HSC exam. All the skills needed to figure this out are taught in year 11/12 chemistry.

    Is 1.5 mol/L HCl corrosive?

Yeahhh sorry dude. I think there was a dilution somewhere that you didn't account for.

    Dropping Maths

Man, your head sounds like a douche. Just walk out of exams as early as possible, or check with your teacher to see if you would fail (I don't think you would) if you didn't turn up at all since it sounds like your teacher doesn't want you sitting the exams either. Since you're not officially...

    Is 1.5 mol/L HCl corrosive?

Were you asked to dilute the acid by a factor of 10 as part of the prac? If so, then you may have forgot to factor that into your final calculation of concentration.

    Dropping Maths

Do you mean dropping the exams, or dropping all 2U classes as well? You have to go to the classes, but I don't think you're under any obligation to sit the exams.

Related Text! Help! Re-education (through labour)

If you are struggling to find techniques, use a different text. Don't use a song as your related text just because you like it.

    MX1 hsc EXAMS

Because of multiple choice. They feel reluctant to put harder questions in the paper when they only have 60 marks of free response to play with as opposed to the original 84.

    Favourite 4U Topic

Integration. It was always fun trying to figure out a sneaky substitution.

Should I drop 2U to General?

I think it would be beneficial for you to stay in 2U if you plan to go to uni. HSC gives kids the impression that higher level maths isn't important for most subjects, when in reality a lot/most university courses will apply 2/3U maths quite often. They won't alter the course to compensate for...

If you are in year 11, read this first.

4U is meant to be started in term 4 of year 11, which is when most schools do start it.

    Neatness of your work

Nah it isn't worth the time making sure your notes are neat. As long as you can read them, it doesn't matter.

    Units for the HSC

No. I can understand 12, possibly 13, but 14 is faaaar too much. The time spent studying those extra 4 units could be time spent nailing your best 10 units. Theres no point of having extra units for insurance if those units are just gonna mess up your best 10 anyway.

HIGH ACHIEVERS!! How do you STUDY??????????

Have 1 set of notes for each subject, don't rewrite them. Just add to them as you go through the course. Read over them once or twice, then apply them to past papers.

will i fail year 11 if i have below 80% attendance?

    You can't "fail" HSC exams.
  17. panda15

will i fail year 11 if i have below 80% attendance?

That is a pretty extreme circumstance though. In general, I think that as long as you're not completely bombing out in your subjects, you won't be failed because of poor attendance.

will i fail year 11 if i have below 80% attendance?

Then can fail you, but they would have to be complete pricks to do so. I think they would only fail you for attendance if you were getting horrible marks to go with it. If you're below 80% attendance, but are getting average/good marks then you should be fine. This was the policy at my public...

When making notes based on syllabus...

They can ask you anything from either section of the syllabus, so it's always smart to do both.
