under the Broadcasting Services Act 1992 (1999); ACMA can only view, and send nasty emails "take down notices" they can either put a rating - be 18+ - or take it down; this only applies to australian sites. they can only send nasty emails to foreign sites, but they can't do anything.

Do you support the Government's upgrade of Australia's broadband infrastructure

I doubt they'll be able to get legislation through to censor the net, family first would push for it, but they'll have the issue of maintaining a block on the billion of pages out there. they'll give up, or they'll give an option for a "clean" and normal feed. I still think it is unethical to...

pfft, just because you're lazy and prefer things out of context to thus create and propagate misconceptions. the entire article is best for a fuller, mreo erudite picture.

Do you support the Government's upgrade of Australia's broadband infrastructure

Posted 9 Apr 2009 4:47 PM Rudd’s NBN – The Big Picture The announcement by the Prime Minister of the new National Broadband Network and much of the reaction to it has demonstrated a lack of understanding of ‘The Big Picture’ by many parties and perhaps not even a full appreciation by the PM...

Do you support the Government's upgrade of Australia's broadband infrastructure

Rudd&squo;s broadband network could worthwhile -- if it works | Herald SunRudd's broadband network could worthwhile -- if it works UNTIL this week, planning for a national broadband network was based on "fibre to the node". This would have involved installing brand new optical fibre for part...

Do you support the Government's upgrade of Australia's broadband infrastructure

I agree utterly, infrastructure, economic development, increases the productive capacity of society therefore it is economically benefitical. The fine print is the funding and application. there isn't enough fine print for us to go over and secondly, we don't know of it's application entirely...

Do you support the Government's upgrade of Australia's broadband infrastructure

I'm not a member of young labor, fortunately, though I do realise administration and maintenance will be an additional cost, it would be small because the thing as just been built, there wouldn't be a need to repair something just made, that also reduces admin costs with no related...

Do you support the Government's upgrade of Australia's broadband infrastructure

I don't think the opposition has the political capital to not agree to the project, unless it is an improvement i.e. making it more expensive. The only way their politicking could do that is if they used the Japanese 160mp/s upgrade for comparison.

after the 5 years of $44.80 per month the rest would be pure profit in time for the hand over to commerical interests.

So, therefore, after it has been paid off it would only be $30/month; that isn't a bad payment. so, if $43bn is to be paid off by 8 million households (there are more) and another 8 million business places (there are more, but not all will need it) there will be $2687.50 to pay it off; if this...

All the different price predictions say is that there is no idea what the cost and take up will be and that there are so many variables that there is such a spread in the predictions.

I'm sitting here slightly bemused, i was under the misapprehension that there were predicitons on the 7:30 report and Lateline Business during the sale of Telstra were that the fine print was rushed and would pose issues in the future for the nation and shareholders. I specifically remember the...

How is it a communist attribute? by that same thought process you could state because the government owns Australia Post, and had left the market to service our mail that every government since 1901 has been communist. substanicate you claims - how is it communist? it's a company, therefore it...
