    How to sleep earli

Althought I don't sleep well, I wouldn't do an all nighter. I would prefer to lie on my bed, being unable to fall asleep, than sit awake for the whole night. Sometimes I am subconscious of whether I have fallen asleep or not... but in fact, I have fallen asleep... so yeah... but generally, I...

    Preventing stupid mistakes

Recheck the harder questions. Don't recheck by looking through your working out, but do the question all over again, using a lead pencil. Make sure your working out is TIDY.

What subjects should I pick for year 11 & 12?

They mean that you shouldn't take English Advanced because of the tautology in 'honestly, to tell the truth'. To be honest is to tell the truth, so you either put 'to be honest' or 'to tell the truth'. Don't put both in the same sentence. I think that's a good subject selection, but be beware...

    your favourite science!

Physics... because it's challenging. Biology is quite interesting but it's not as intellectually satisfying. Chemistry is totally boring.

    are we behind?

You should expect to learn 'new' stuff. e.g. in Mathematics Extension 1, you might be starting on Trigonometry.. not like SOH CAH TOA but maybe radians, sums and differences of angles and general solutions of trigonometric equations. and e.g. In English, you should expect to receive assessment...

    maths trouble.

Wait until the exams come. There are some questions that you may not understand when the teacher explains it, but once the exam comes, the solution will just hit you. e.g. I have a couple of questions I don't get which other students get, but during the exams, I still end up beating them :D I...

    are we behind?

Your school is behind by a bit, but not by much because schools are supposed to do a bit of revision and basics for the first four weeks.

    Y try so hard for??

Well, it's because most people want to see what they can reach when they try their best. It's also because well.... let's say that the higher your uai is, the more you can boast about it in front of your friends and family. Usually, when students receive their HSC results, everyone asks each...

    Books are overpriced?

I agree. They are too expensive. I can get a movie for $12 for the same price I could get with a book. Books should be worth $5 :D

would you let someone borrow your book?

I wouldn't lend one. People would take ages to return it. I know - it's an attitude problem I sorta have. I don't let anyone borrow my things unless it's something small like a pen. I don't know what's going wrong with me, but I have a feeling that I don't trust anyone in this world.

need to know about the umat exam

I have been wondering about the UMAT too. The questions are alright (i've attempted some of them before). Section 1 is on Logical Reasoning and Problem Solving and I think this is the hardest. Section 2 is on Interaction Skills which is quite easy (mainly common sense). Section 3 is on Spatial...

    Coaching rates?

$44 for two hours at North Shore :D

parents bribe teachers for selective school

Yes. It does happen. I know a friend whose mother tried to bribe the principal in giving her son a 90% + raw school mark.

Is there anything bad in doing an odd number of units? Say like 9 or 11 units

I'm gonna do 11 units in Year 12, if I pick up History Extension and Mathematics Extension 2. If you read the UAC scaling report, usually the kids who gain in excess of 90+ uai are those who do 12 units. 10 units is a little risky. 11 should be fine.

    Questions about the school certificate

The school certificate is easy in comparison to the trials that your school will give you. The most important thing to remember for the school certificate is to: - Get a good night sleep - Keep track of time. You will finish, but you will need time to recheck. - Make sure your writing makes...

what type of english should i pick?

See if your marks improve. For now, focus on improvement more than anything else.

Is 2 Unit same as 3 Unit Maths?

I don't think they offer General Maths at JR. duckcowhybrid was only mentioning the marks required to continue to do 3U. If someone at Ruse did not meet the requirement, they would get put in a 2U class, but never General.

Is 2 Unit same as 3 Unit Maths?

3U and 2U are pretty similar in content, except 3U has some additional topics such as Permutations, Mathematical Induction, etc. Most 3U classes in most schools will have begun 2U work in 3U, but 3U work has been only introduced as basics. If you want to change, you won't be missing out on much.

    How to sleep earli

I sleep really well in the afternoon. I can do a bit of Maths homework in the afternoon and then fall asleep after doing it. It is much harder for me to fall asleep at night though. I have a lot of trouble falling asleep before the exams because of stress levels (which has started since Year 10...

    Studying occasionally???

Well, I have just been wondering.. Should I start studying consistently from now on? I remember in Year 10 how I used to study ONLY before the exams, but should I review my work occasionally from now on? LOLZ, I have a few friends at school (in Year 11) who study everyday... just practicing...
