I'm almost certain that standard and advanced english do NOT get scaled differently, so don't stay in advanced thinking that if you do avg in it, it would be better than doing standard. There are students out there in standard that actually try and work hard and get bands 5 and 6 but...

We have 3 assignments for maths, 3 topic tests covering the whole area of which we study and half-yearlys and yearlys.

I've seen people in my class spew out 2+ pages for the 5 mark question (and yes get 5 marks for it) yet i see people write a page thereabouts and still get 5 marks. quality over quantity

Question: For those of you who are taking on 10+ units wouldn't it be easier if you dropped your lowest ranked subject in order to spend more time on the other subjects to try and increase them? I believe that i have changed alot. Earlier this year I had some family issues forcing me to live with my older brother (21 years old) for 3/4 of the year. Even now it's still hard to live by; doing practically everything myself for myself plus family. After all that though I still gave it 110%...

Re: This October Holidays.... if you feel that you should be studying then study, usually a subject that your not strong in so you can feel a bit more confident when you head back soon.

it depends how well you are doing and how well you want to do. Eg. You are averaging 50% per test but you want to get 90+ in HSC, easier to drop to general. But if your still getting 50% but you want to aim for 60-70 in HSC then i believe that it's achievable, you just have to work heaps hard...

From just reading everybody else's school policy you lot should be grateful. For us, if your have >12 units you can drop to the min of 12 units anytime with ease, but since we are doing HSC next term one would think we could drop to 10 units if we wanted to. But no, we must keep 12 units min...

Yep I use it. Very useful, talks about length of essays (length of intro, body, conclusion) depending on how many words the essay should be. It really helps you break down the essay question and then expand it so soon enough you have the infomation and you can just write it out. Easy!
