Well, TBH, I ask the same question. A number of firms have made questionable termination payouts, especially where those payouts were not legally or contractually owed. However, I still say this is a problem for shareholders to address, not the government.

I thought some of my finance/economics/commerce buddies might find this article interesting... The American Conservative -- Unnatural Disaster Essentially, it argues that government intervention (poor monetary policy) is the root cause of the current economic recession. I agree. Opinions?

I've never encountered a unit that had compulsory lectures. However, some units have no prescribed text or lecture slides, so whilst the lectures may not be compulsory, lecture attendance is your only chance of passing. Don't waste your time/money at Uni;— attend the lectures if you can.

Yes, you can withdraw just using eStudent. I think it may still be possible to enrol in another unit too.

If you can, do your readings before you attend a given lecture, that way you'll already have some minimal understanding of what the lecturer is saying (and thus be more interested/less sleepy), and the lecture will become an opportunity to reinforce the knowledge rather than just your first...
