Do they check your records for med

No, but please don't get any more lol. If you have/get a criminal conviction i.e. get sentenced or convicted (i.e. go to court) of an offence the NSW: Medical Board may question your professional conduct upon entering medical school.

Can an MD work as a nurse?

Dude read what I said! Lol in the US it does, not here. You must do a research doctorate at UQ, Umelb, etc as a doctor of medicine (MBBS) to get your MD in Australia. In different countries there are different award titles for a medical degree. MBBS = BMed (Uncle/UNE Jmp Award), MBchB...

Can an MD work as a nurse?

NO, they are two different roles, you will have to go to back to uni to become an RN, but I am sure you will be given significant recognition of prior learning. Physiotherapy is a completely different ball park all together, like dentistry. Also it's MBBS is Australia, MD is is MBBS +...

Hey, you will be at uni on Mon, Wed, and Friday up to 5pm (depending on which PBL group you are in). You will have one day off either Tuesday or Thursday and the day you don't have off is mainly free (except for 1.5-2 hours which is clinical time in the hospital). Once you get in you can...

    different med schools

Med students have lives outside of study you know! Also we get a day off during first and second year during the week, etc. Most first/second year students work, or have other commitments such as volunteer work, tutoring hsc students, etc during the week.

Do doctors do practicals on corpses?

It's still hot gossip in some med student circles. Esp at AMSA Convention, etc. Alot of UNSW still cop sh*t because of it, but then again the poor attitude put out by a number of UNSW doesn't help either.

    different med schools

Medical education in Australia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Fee structure is the same for all med schools except for Bond uni and International students (must pay full-free up front ~$32-45K/pa). Fees for domestric students are covered by the Commonwealth Supported Places scheme/HECS...

Do doctors do practicals on corpses?

It's not normal unless you want to go to UNSW and do other prohibited stuff to cadavers, lol You get used to formalin, formaldehyde, etc after a few lab sessions, I barely even notice it now.
  15. W

Do doctors do practicals on corpses?

We use cadavers just to examine anatomical form and function of various bodily systems. For practicals we have both computerised, laboratory, and clinical skills e.g. ng tubes, cannulas , etc which are taught at hospital on manikins & real patients (in second year-). However, in first year you...

    Med courses

There is no Recognition of prior learning for medicine, unless students transfer between medical schools on compassionate grounds. We have RN's, Ambos, etc who had to start at first year. If you want to do medicine, why not sit UMAT next year or do one year of any degree sit the UMAT, try...

undergraduate degree for post graduate medicine

They do that in NZ at Otago and Auckland universities, with Health Science First Year being a prerequisite for couses such as Medicine, Dent, Pharmacy, Medical Science, etc. There are alot of problems with doing that though, what if you miss out and really don't want to finish with a general...
