The markers love that gimmicky stuff

Who thinks the HSC is unfair?

I think it just appears that way because the students who get 90+ are much more enthusiastic to share their result.

Who thinks the HSC is unfair?

Four things: 1) In a sense, it is based on 2 years, with the Preliminary knowledge preparing us for the HSC, and in the case of mathematics or religion, being examinable in the HSC. 2) The extended "2 years" is already provided for under the pathways system, if you want to drag it out, then do...

Who thinks the HSC is unfair?

Your down 2-0, philphie. Hand in your resignation letter.

Who thinks the HSC is unfair?

Weren't you advocating a scheme where students present the marks they got in each subject to be accpeted into a university course?
  6. N

Who thinks the HSC is unfair?

Plus, I don't see how this would resolve the essential issue of some subjects being valued over others. Universities would know the difference between legal studies and extension 1 maths. They would still prefer the subjects that the scaling system had taught them to value as more difficult.

Who thinks the HSC is unfair?

Yeah, maintain the status quo, make any necessary adjustments, and ignore the whingers. They complain because of their ignorance of the system, and because they didn't perform as well as they would have liked.

Who thinks the HSC is unfair?

If we changed to a show-your-actual-subject-marks system, those presenting, for instance, good humanities marks with the intent of doing journalism, would be the same people doing journalism - with the requisite ATAR - because they tended towards the humanities. Doing non-humanities, or vice...

Who thinks the HSC is unfair?

Some subjects, are just that: our subjects. They are subservient, and below us. They deserve to be persecuted.
  10. N

Who thinks the HSC is unfair?

How is that any improvement? On observation of marks, they would still take the students who would have got the better ATARs. So philphie, I beat you in our previous debate?

Who thinks the HSC is unfair?

Hey are you a newcastle bloke? What school?
  12. N

Who thinks the HSC is unfair?

That system would only result in the wealthier applicants getting priority.
  13. N

Who thinks the HSC is unfair?

Yeah sorry suling, jelly belly's right, rudd does actually sleep on the job. He just catches up on the other 4 hours - every single day- during question time, while he gives speeches, or makes diplomatic visits. Seriously, watch him doing a press conference. You can see the sleeping head lolling...

Who thinks the HSC is unfair?

Yes I did know, and I do protest, Sir/Madam!
  15. N

Who thinks the HSC is unfair?

Yeah Suling. Kevin Rudd has only 3-4 hours of sleep a night. ANd his work load, I'll take a bet, was much larger than yours.

Who thinks the HSC is unfair?

I'm not sure about your definition, I think I'll stick with all leading, world-recognised dictionaries. There is nothing wrong with having some encyclopedia in each of us. I can't believe you'd be so crass as to say that subjects should only fulfil a vocational, "practical use". The very...
