Yeah, once you're in Year 11 and 12, teachers really shouldn't actually be teaching you anything. You should be independently doing your research/learning/discovering. The teacher should only be there as a guide and give you tips and strategies.

If you really wanted to take up Mathematics Extension 2, I'm sure that you would not be cramming at like 1 AM in the morning for last minute study. Doing Mathematics Extension 2 requires discipline and a passion for Mathematics, which, from your post, you do not particularly display.
