im pretty sure you can drop it even if you fail the test. i remember the lecturer/test instructor saying it was highly not recommended but i mean, if you treat it like a joke (which most people i know did) and fail (which no one i know did) i think you'll be alright dropping it.

What Uni has best social life / environment?

how is that helpful at all? the same person (making the best of what's in front of him) will have a better time at certain universities than other universities. if you think the social life at usyd is the same as a very small private college and all you say is 'it's what you make of it' then...

doesnt make a difference. no employer is going to give a crap if you went to usyd over unsw or vice versa. pick it on location, campus, social life and stuff that actually matters. i have heard that unsw comm is a bit easier than usyd in terms of exams and marks but have nothing to back that...

pros and cons of doing a single degree instead of a double degree?

often hard to double major across faculties. Eco and Finance, or Accounting and Finance is very easy but Accounting and Chemistry is harder to fit in (if even possible with straight commerce)

Do people that get 98/99 atars do just as well in uni?

yeah i can see what youre saying 100% was simply a natural transition for me, just like every year in school. Primary to high school, year 10 to 11, 11 to 12 whatever. Nothing really shocking as such. Still a tonne of memorisation in university thats for sure. More independent thinking, like...
