    Capped Subjects.

Hmm, everyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it just means for a certan subject, there is a threshold preventing you from achieveing a maximum aligned mark of 50.00. Even if one of your subjects is capped, its still possible to obtain an 100 UAI.

HELP!! King Lear - nihilist or liberal humanist?

Well you can structure it however you want but if I were you I'd briefly acknowledge the humanist side and then establish the argument that the nihlist elements of the play overshadow the humanist shades. To do this, you will obviously need to support your response with textual support.

    English scaling.

Really? Thats interesting. Did she give anything to back up what she was saying?

    English scaling.

Sorry the thread was incoherent. I just looked over in myself and even I'm confused. :p But apparently, Standard and Advanced English are scaled as a single course (or so I've read on UAC). Thus, it is more difficult for a standard student to obtain a higher raw mark in the first place...

    English scaling.

In a technical sense, yes, Advanced and Standard are scaled the same way. But a standard student will only have a greater scaled mark than an advanced student if they had a greater raw mark. In 2u english, the raw mark is comprised of 40% from the AOS paper and 60% from the modules paper...

    www.hscguide.com, anyone?

QFT. There is no secret to achieving 90+ people. Its a combination of hard work, natural aptitude and scaling. Thats all there is to it- you don't have to buy any e-book to tell you that.

In your opinion what is the most important subject?

ephemeral---> short-lived. Hence, I was trying to say external factors (in this case, money and the things that it can buy) will only deliver temporary, superfical happiness.

    English scaling.

Generally? English Advanced scales quite well, Engish Standard scales quite poorly. Take at look at the 2007 and 2006 scaling reports: http://www.uac.edu.au/pubs/pdf/2007_table_A3.pdf (2007) http://www.uac.edu.au/pubs/pdf/scaling_report_2006-web.pdf (2006)

In your opinion what is the most important subject?

Ok. This thread has sort of turned from a 1. 'whats the most important subject thread' to 2 'can money buy happiness thread.' and these are the correct answers to both questions: 1. The importance or relevance of certain subjects is entirely dependent on the individual, their interests...

    "Back up units"

Hey, For the UAI, your best 10 units will always be counted. So for example, with your subjects: 3unit maths, pdh, eco, business, adv eng Lets assume Ext 1 maths is your worst unit. In this case, this would be the one unit that isn't counted towards your UAI. Conversely, if say, buisness...

In your opinion what is the most important subject?

Re: What is the most important subject? Foram, I have read and critiqued the reponse you posted up. I know exactly why you are getting the marks you are in English, and doubt there is anything 'fishy' going on in your English department. I think it is far more likely that you are...

    Difference between outline and describe?

True. 'Outline' is really the precursor to 'Describe'. But you realise you would NEVER, and I mean NEVER get 'Outline' as the directive term for that Q, and also unlikely you'd get 'Describe' We would be much more likely get 'Assess' or 'Evaluate'.

public school or private school to do better in HSC?

Lol. I just understood it to mean 'well the contentious issue has been resolved' sort of thing, rather than 'hey mod, close the thread'. But maybe tahts just me misinterpreting internet jargon. :o

    "Special Provisions" BS!

  18. ccc123

    "Special Provisions" BS!

People get really desperate and HSC-centric, and will do anything to maximise their performance.
