Admission to Undergraduate MBBS based on GPA

Wow, misinformation ahoy! In case it hasn't been worked out yet, the GPA cutoff truly exceeded the published 5.5 this year. (The lowest I've heard of so far is 6.2.) Like the UAI threshold which takes the top 95th percentile of applicants, it was the top 5% of tertiary applications that were...

    umat/ medicine at Newcastle

Mine was in my mailbox this morning. :) Looks like they're still using paper.

    JMP - Newcastle interviews

Umm. Right. Serious business mode. I assume people are going based off what's been happening from the previous years. Or, you know, we're just dicking around on the internet to pre-emptively piss people off. :hammer: EDIT: Checked my snail mail. Got~

JCU interview cut off for interstate

I imagine the cut off would be incredibly high. Waivering the UMAT requirement is a bold step, thus the pre-selection round is very stringent. One is supposed to receive notification of an interview offer around the 17th of November.

Wuaaaa?! As in, snail mail?! Barbarians.

    UWS interviews are out

Got. It seems pretty stupid to hand out notifications now when booking doesn't happen for over a week. And who comes up with these genius ideas of tweaking ACER scores anyway? Section 1: 91 Section 2: 57 Section 3: 64 Adjusted: 180 (Non-GWS) AHHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Totally got...

    So BIOS1011.....

LOL yessss, the practical exam was last week. Oh, the hilarity of it all! The demonstrators were terrorising people by giving them the stats on the failure rates. Cardiac arrhthmias all around :D! I found it pretty OK though. This year's exam timetable gives us four days or so to cram in...

    umat/ medicine at Newcastle

Could someone please clarify when non-interstate applicants receive their interview offers? The admissions officer left at 4:30 and her voice mail is turned off. (Wow, that sounded incredibly stalker-ish.)

Tropical Green's chicken and salad roll appreciation thread...

I heart chilli! :uhoh: Hahaha. This is going to turn into another one of those food discussion threads with no relevance to OT. I've taken to cooking food at home and reheating it at uni microwaves... The arcade's Stock Market! Omnomnomnom salads!

Tropical Green's chicken and salad roll appreciation thread...

Title speaks for itself. Does anybody else survive on these? There have been times when I've had two in one day. How do you like yours? (No patte, extra sauce and lots of chilli plz!) For those who have no idea what I'm talking about, FOR SHAME! :hammer:

Tutor: UAI 99.95 - English, Maths, Chemistry and Economics

High marks doesn't always equate to excellent teaching, but Dhruv is an excellent example and a tutor who is capable of passing on his skills to his students. It's without reservation that I recommend him to any student seeking tuition for HSC subjects!

Tuition for Year 11/12 students who are having financial difficulty

Dear all, As we approach November, nerves are running high and everybody is anxious for some last minute revision. I've decided to take some initiative and offer free group tuition for students who are genuinely needing some revision but are finding it difficult to meet the all too often...

    general UNSW chit-chat

Off topic. Has anybody else plundered the secret floors of our library? :uhoh: Hahaha. It was anticlimax of the century.

    pathway into optometry

I was really happy with my session one results. :P Science happens to be a real passion of mine. Those that do choose medical/vision science for its inherent appeal and educational integrity aren't phased by all this "transfer competitiveness" talk. It's wildly irrelevent to them and I have...

    pathway into optometry

I'd say you could make a fairly education guess, judging by the course cut off. Stereotypes don't hold well, but they usually have their basis in truth. :uhhuh: "Work your ass off." (But I think OP knows that already!)

UNSW Med Sci 08: ROLL CALL!

I did some asking around and some book browsing and I'd rec Snell's Clinical Anatomy by Systems-- available at the library. Save $60 and invest in Netter's flash cards and CD-self tests instead. :p
