Students Against Scaling - Post Here!

Ah, okay, you've edited the OP, but I don't quite understand the logic. The percentage you refer to is I assume your pre-scalled mark? Because in most cases your mark would be scaled down, not up, and this is required to level out each course. You then said that a mark of 50 would equate to...

Students Against Scaling - Post Here!

The UAI is a very complex system. Remember that it is a ranking not a mark, and that is is designed by the Universities Admissions Centre, not BOS, for the purpose of Univiersities Admissions, not as a mark intended for every student. And at the end of the day, although you can say it is unfair...

How do you see certain UAI ranks as?

But then again, half of the cohort gets < 50, so we must be a really dumb country...

Maybe repeating year 11 is a good idea for me?

Yeah, I've got a friend who's in the same situation as you, he picked all the wrong subjects and now is suffering for it. i.e. he is going to have trouble even getting past 50% for Year 11, and he doesn't know what he wants to do. The way I see it, if you can get away with not repeating and...

worst/best english novel you have ever read in school?

I'm really enjoying Dracula at the moment, its a great book. Midsummer's Night Dream was the first Shakespeare I actually liked (I know its a play but oh well). We didn't study the Tomorrow series by John Marsden but I really liked it anyway. (Studying it probably would have put me off it...

How do you see certain UAI ranks as?

I'd be happy with 85, that gets me the course, but really I'd like 90+.

    Are you enjoying Year 11?

It's fairly good. Free periods are great, particually since I live close to school and can get home easily, studying subjects you choose is great, and the teachers treat you slightly more like adults (some of them anyway, one of mine still thinks were in kindy) . But it is hard work, I have had...

    Hardest Subject?

What else are you doing though?

    Hardest Subject?

Ext. Maths is the hardest for me, but I'm picking up in it. I'm finding Chem much harder than Physics, as are many of my classmates, which wasn't what I expected at all. Ext. English is a different kind of hard, but I'm really enjoying it, which is probably why I find that easier than Advanced...
