Exactly man. Marks are really important. Although 70 plus wam from usyd cracking big law does happen. give only around 10-15 people get a wam above 77 by 5th year. But experience is extremely important as well - i.e. proper legal experience not "admin clerk" at a suburban law firm employed to...
Yes and roughly 50 pc of lawyers would do law again according to lawyers weekly survey. This is in line with the medical profession. Just the grass is greener on the other side.
Definitely agree with the motivation thing. I am where i am because of precisely that. Just on the clerkship etc - to grt clerkships in big law, you eithet have to know a partner or have top marks. So for most people in law, marks are a huge category (much more important than marks in Commerce )
i stated that because i haven't done law at every uni so iwouldn't know. Rather not speculate, never did a law degree at uws. But from friends, i do know where it is easier to get higher marks in.
Also dupain, stfu mate. I know people from mq at freehills. So casey, do not worry at all. With...
Nothing is worse than those mature aged students. Just stfu and let the lecture go on rather and going on "but in that case *that is not required reading or even in unit of study*" or "in your comment in that case/paper" shuttt the fuckkk upppp. Sometimes they ask very good questions though so...
Haha strong post on that hscdiscussion group. At the end of the day, no one can choose it for you. If you are confident, go to unsw. You can go wrong with either. Tranferring from uts to unsw law isnt hard either. 75 wam is usually enough
Just do straight comm, study and get 77ish plus wam. Really isnt hard at unsw first year units. I dont know anyone with less than a d average in unsw comm - even the less bright kids i know. so i would defs take the scholarship and then transfer into unsw comm/law. Don't do arts unless you are...
As usual, on point and i definitely agree.
But i think law is still law. It was prestigious and high paying etc because it was super hard to get into i.e. high barriers to entry, much like medicine.
Because there are so many law schools now, it is generally the tier one law schools and their...
No one told me that.. its usually congratulations for getting into thw course you want.
Law is fine, its just so many people do it so you have to be a top candidate to get a good job.
Hey mate,
That is some strong dedication. Definitely admire that! You'll eventually get in to dent somewhere with a will like that.
Just a little q though, you speak of this intense desire to do dent? Is that simply to prove your class wrong or something else? have you considered med?
How'd you find it mate?
I finish mine today.
I can't do grad because not penultimate but the connections/advice gained is unbelievablE and is probably the best part.
thanks for your response serimify.
Precisely that, in internships we get good exposure to just how that particular firm works etc and good experience on our CV (e.g. interns being more common in well known firms). On the other hand we can work part time for a smaller firm picking up some...
Hi guys,
For someone entering 3rd year this year, what would be better to do - part-time work in a small finance/research firm for relatively long term (1+ year) or focus on interning in different fields?
Having done my first internship, I feel like the amount of time we have (Around 10...
You don't need med sci to do GAMSAT. Yes GAMSAT is difficult but you can study for it and get the correct strategy. My mate did commerce and had 1 month to study for it. Got 67 in his first shot as a 2nd year. Is doing it again in march.
Also you can pursue med later in your life e.g. late...
Definitely not. Over half the students in law degrees don't plan on being lawyers. I happen to be one of them. Is it a waste of time? Hell no. Love it (except exam times when you have #deepthoughts about life and question why you put yourself through this).
What do you want to do then?
If...
lol this guy.
When did I state or even imply university is the 'be all and end all'? You said 'who gives a shit' i.e. it doesn't matter at all while I said it does.
Again, just because I go to usyd and say that university does 'matter' (never said it was the 'be all and end all') does not mean...
