    State rank differentation

Just curious, in a subject like 2u maths, a lot of people get 99 or 100/100 for the exam, many of which are also ranked first in their internals. How do they differentiate who comes 1st, 2nd, third etc for state ranks when I would imagine lots of ties would happen, not only in maths, but other...

    Dot point help

Can anyone show me how to do: 1.71 (no idea how to do this) 1.73(b): I subbed in n=3, n=6 to the equations for final and initial respectively (and then reciprocated) but got the wrong answer. Both questions from quanta to quarks area

    Related text restrictions

For my related text I want to use a text that is also used in 'The Art of Travel' (mod C text). Is this ok? 'The Art of Travel' makes extensive intertextual references, and just want to make sure it is ok to use a related text that features heavily in another core text.

    textual integrity

Are we expected to mention textual integrity for every Mod B question, or only if the question specifically says so? How much context should mod B have? Thanks in advance.

    inconsistent behaviour of cathode rays

So the inconsistent behaviour of cathode rays was due to Hertz concluding that it was a wave as his experiments showed that they were not deflected by electric fields, which occurred because his electric field was not strong enough so that there was no observable change in direction (right?)...

Anyone know where I can find sample creatives or creatives from past students so I know what kind of level of writing a band 6 requires?

    How to increase photocurrent

Does increasing the surface area of a solarcell increase photocurrent? My teacher said increasing the frequency of incident light, and hence the kinetic energy of electrons, does not affect the current. Dot point disagrees. Can anyone shed light on this please. (unintentional pun)

    requirements for co-op

For Co-op, when it says minimum of 96 atar, is that all they look into for atars? Will someone with a 99atar be more likely to get in as opposed to someone that got an 98? One of the requirements it says on the unsw page is "Is active in school or community activities". Does community...

    Techniques in Art of Travel

Is anyone else having a hard time finding techniques? I've written two paragraphs for an essay and I feel like I can't find a new technique without repeating them. The book is so mundane it makes me want to harass whichever one of my teacher's made us study this :evilfire:

Acceleration as a function of displacement

If given the acceleration as a function of displacement, (d^2x/dt^2), do you integrate normally to find the velocity as a function of time, and use the (v^2)/2 thingy to find velocity also as a function of displacement?

    Hamet - characters or themes?

I just started writing a generic draft essay and having several problems structuring it... The question relates to what I think contributes to the timelessness of Hamlet. The major problem is that I don't know whether to focus more on themes or characters. If I do themes, how do I give my own...

Effect of electric fields on cathode rays

In physics dot point, the answers say that during the 1800's, scientists determined that electric fields had no effect on cathode rays. My understanding is that every scientist except Hertz determined that it did have a noticeable effect. So, not too sure what is going on here. Also, do we...

Integrals with fractional powers of trig

how would you do the indefinite integral of (sinx)^5/2 * cosx so basically the integral of sinx to the power of 5/2 multiplied by cosx. Sorry I don't know how to use that fancy maths thingy that people on here seem to use on here yet. Thanks in advance.

Halving the interval to a required decimal place

What exactly does it mean to one decimal place? Does it have to be the y-value of the function when an x value is tested? IE: F(2.125)=-0.002 which is to three DP, which is even better than one dp, does that mean that answer is x=2.125 as an approximation to 1dp? :blink2:

    Essay help

Is there anyone out there, (preferably at a high band 6 level) who would not mind taking a look at a essay I wrote for ModA? Please send me a message if you can! EDIT: I don't necessarily need anything overly extensive, just a quick sentence or two on how it was in general and any obvious errors.

    Lenz's Law requirements

For lenz's law to take place, there must be a current produced in the conductor to create a magnetic field to oppose that of the magnet. If then, the conductor is not a complete circuit (eg piece of wire) that is moved relative to a magnet, there will be an induced EMF but no current. Therefore...

    Relevance of syllabus dot points

I notice some textbooks (jacaranda for eg) have a lot of information that I can't really relate to any syllabus dot points. Does this mean I can just ignore that stuff as it shouldn't ever appear in an exam? Or do the people who write the HSC exams interpret the dot points broadly and hence the...

    Greg Marsden notes

Does anyone know where I can find these elusive notes? They are written by the infamous greg marsden, there are threads on this website from 12 years ago asking where you can find his notes. He also happens to do notes for chemistry. I myself can't find them anywhere on the internet and...
