Pharmacy = pharmacist - dispensing drugs/medications, educating patients regarding dosing, how to take the drug, when, with/without food etc, making creams etc. If your in it for the "money" then it basically becomes a glorified retail job where you try to sell as much goods as possible.

Re: OMG!! Is it true that if u do graduate medicine is better than undergraduate medi
B Med Sci/MBBS isn't really an undergrad degree..
it's a lateral entry scheme and it's designed for students who didn't gain entry into MBBS directly.
You can't choose to do a Med Sci/MBBS degree, you can...
With the assumption that you have a desire to get into Med, here are my thoughts:
1. Pharmacy
- Good, because you have a decent backup career available if you complete the degree.
- Bad, because it's 4 years rather then 3 so if your seeking postgraduate entry it will take a longer amount of...
Re: OMG!! Is it true that if u do graduate medicine is better than undergraduate medi
B Med Sci (Hons) / MBBS can be done in 7 years.. but that isn't really considered doing postgraduate medicine as that's a unique system UNSW has in place which is different to any other institution.
To OP...
Not likely for USYD.
USYD considers 50/50 GPA:ATAR, so to be competitive it is said that you'll need a 97+ ATAR and a D+ GPA for non-standard transfer.
99.75-99.95 = No UMAT e.g. Griffith, Umelb, USYD etc.
If your planning to do tertiary study next year then a high ATAR won't really aid your cause in gaining entry into any undergraduate medical schools except UNSW.
That being said, even then UNSW weights ATAR/GPA 50/50 and thus you'll...
Hopefully I can shed some light on this topic..
I, myself, am a med-hopeful and graduated from high school last year.
Like you, I contemplated all the "what-ifs" and ALL the "back up plans" I could think of.
I was thinking about nutrition & dietetics, optometry, teaching, physiotherapy...
nah.. i didn't do very well.
but I improved greatly from last year (50's) which I am very thankful about
According to last years cut offs, I'm hopeful of an JMP interview (61 in s1) and very hopeful of possibly a UWS interview (144 weighted) but I'm in the Adv Sci stream - so hopefully...
agreed! I was absolutely devastated last year..
going through a year of uni made me realise even more that I wanted a career in medicine.
Don't give up hope.
should have a decent shot then, all the best!
with UNCLE/JMP, when giving out actual offers do they weigh UMAT and interview, or just interview?
UAC offers not interview offers.
well your cohort seems relatively similar in size to mine..
my grade only had 70 or so students and only 9 received ATARs over 90.
Dux (me) received 98.75, second received 97.5, third 95 and then the rest were <95.
At the moment I'm thinking <95.
around 94/95 ish.
don't think 98.. unless your cohort is SUPER smart in comparison to previous years..
I was top 3 in all my subjects, see sig.. and only got 98.75
edit: school rank was 280ish, after my cohort jumped to 150s
