English Advanced: 92/105 - 88%
Discovery Essay: 15/15
Discovery Creative: 14/15
Module A: 17/20
Module B: 15/20
Module C: 18/20
My Hamlet essay was so bad and that's what pulled my marks down. I think I just need to spend more time on Advanced course in general as I literally only had my...
My friend from last year's cohort got 84/105 for the English Advanced trials, which is like an 80% too, but ended up with a Band 6, and one of my teachers got 54/100 for his Modern History trials, but ended up with a 92 HSC mark, which is a Band 6. (He did the HSC in 2006 I think)
What if the top 20 people are literally 1-3 marks away from each other, and the school normally doesn't do very well academically (ranked 200-300s) but this year's cohort seems to be an exception?
Re: Coalition ‘alarmed’ after students with Atars as low as 17.9 accepted into teachi
I think the ATAR requirement for teaching should be at least over 90, and they should also be paid a lot more (although this doesn't really apply to my school, cos it's a private school and the teachers get...
Re: Coalition ‘alarmed’ after students with Atars as low as 17.9 accepted into teachi
Well that explains a lot lmao
The two worst teachers I've ever had got an ATAR of 75 and another an ATAR of 84. (Bad teachers, but they're also really up themselves and annoying in personality)
The two best...
I don't think that automatically implies that schools aren't supposed to give estimates - if it was a real "rule" then they would've made it clearer. Maybe try calling again.
First of all, I'm sorry to hear that you're going through stuff like that. And I also don't think it's fair that they'll give you an automatic zero for missing a trial exam when you're in "extenuating" circumstances. You can argue that there is no "official NESA rule" to follow that prohibits...
Yeah, check how much each trial exam is worth. Anywhere around 20-40% is a lot, so you should push hard for those because your result will have a greater impact on your rank.

No worries. :)
It's true that the question can be a curveball (but let's hope it's not this year haha), but if you struggle to write sophisticatedly on the spot, then I recommend memorising for the actual HSC.
What I don't understand is why Advanced has to be extra af.
I mean, 4 essays + 1 creative is A LOT to do for a 2 unit subject. (whereas in EE1, there's just one essay + one creative and if you go further down the line to EE2, one major + one reflection statement, which requires no proper...
Honestly don't even worry. The fact that you're doing Extension shows ability in being articulate and expressing yourself and stuff, so I'm sure your analysis was great!
Five pages is good! (at least that's what my teacher told me) Also pages aren't really a good indication of actual length because of different sized handwriting. (you may have written small, and only got 5 pages, but have had the same amount of words as someone who wrote big and got 10 pages...
Module B is critical perspectives. I wouldn't recommend memorising an essay for Module B, because they can honestly ask you on anything, like a specific character or scene in the play, so it's safer to know the play back-to-front, whereas in Module A and C (and AOS), the questions are usually...
How much have you prepared? If you haven't done any preparation, then just memorise quotes and analysis, because tbh you'll most likely blank out during the exam if you try to cram all three full essays in one night.
1. Do markers prefer short and straight-to-the-point sentences (15 - 30 words) or long-winded ones? (60 - 80 words)
2. How important is it to have terms from the rubric in the Discovery essay? I only have some in the introduction, and very few in my body paragraphs.
3. Do markers prefer big or...
Hi guys,
Does anyone have any tips for acing sight-singing, besides practicing a lot? It's one of my weakest areas after melodic dictation, so any advice would be great :D
