Here's some thoughts I have posted in a couple of other topics...
Re: Gap Year
Re: What to do...
Basically, find yourself a hobby or keen interest and then find something that enables you to do that or a degree that will allow to work with and around that. For example, food opened up...
A gap year is worth it - as long as it's productive. I actually wish I took a gap year after high school. The benefit of hindsight... If you do, I seriously recommend taking a working holiday overseas. Don't go to an English speaking country - get out of your comfort zone and immerse yourself in...
My wife studied her Bachelor of Psychology at QUT. She needed it to get into her Master of Audiological Studies degree at UQ to be an Audiologist. They basically deal with deaf people, fitting hearing aids, testing hearing, cochlear implants and so on and so forth. She is now a research...
Absolutely... Especially if you tack a Post Grad degree on at the end in Commerce or of similar ilk. You'll probably end up at a think tank rather than in a business though...

Yep... Pretty sure it happens every year. I know it's frustrating but it's not the end of the world. One door closes another one always opens... I'll be sure to keep an eye out for any stray meteorites though... LOL!
The problem is that there are thousands of applicants trying to finalise their preferences at almost the same time and UAC only has a certain amount of bandwidth to spare. It would be okay if they had a dedicated server to handle the amount of requests they were receiving but it is more than...
As an aside, good luck everyone! I'm pretty sure (considering we are on this forum) we really care about what we get into and actually give a _ _ _ _ and I hope we all get into something that we all want! In the meantime, I am going to have a lobotomy so I am not so anxious for the next 13 days...
I've got a (completed) AQF Diploma of Business (Administration) as well as an old STAT test as my basis for application. I also sent in a Personal Statement to UTS as well, but I don't think they will accept it because I already have the Diploma. With any luck they will take a look at it...
Tell me about it.... Lag was painful. Very happy I couldn't get in though - who knows what I would have picked! I could well have decided I wanted to be a Podiatrist!

Great post. That third post is the most important. Break it down basically. Find the chalk and cheese e.g inside or outside, technical/science based or arts based etc etc. Then start looking at industries/jobs that cover most if not all the things you picked. Take a look at job prospects, look...
Good advice Lord. The other thing I would do is once you figure which one you want to do most, pick the majority of your preferences around that and then maybe two or three degrees in each of your other interests. I think when you pick, pick one really difficult (but achievable) course to get in...
As someone who has being in your position (way back in 2000) don't feel as though you have to go to university. By all means, take your time with making your decision. Have a look at apprenticeships (I did. I'm a qualified chef. It's taken me around the world and I've worked with some of the...
Whatever you do, and speaking from my own personal experience, pick something that you have a keen interest in!
When I finished high school, I was either going to go to university to do IT or become a chef. I got good enough marks to get into university and picked IT mainly because of its...
