Try to get through the syllabus as much as you can while making detailed notes. You have a lot of time so try to make them as concise and detailed as possible. Its also good to revise what you have learnt because it'll be used for future topics.
In all honesty if you feel like you enjoy the subjects you'll do well in them. Never pick subjects because you think it scales better or will automatically give you better marks, its not true. Chances are if you like them you'll spend more time for them.
Its depends on whether it impedes your study for other subjects. It scales better than adv and standard so if possible you should keep it, i regret dropping when I did HSC.
Take notes of what is explained in class. When you get home cut down all the useless words to make the most concise phrasing as possible. Use these to answer the dot points and after repeated practice keywords can be used to bring up a load of information
