    in need of some motivation

You haven't disadvantaged yourself whatsoever; still remember that it's holidays for you. You may not want to study intensely for the entire 6 week holiday, and that's completely fine. Or you may want to, but only do a few hours a day. Whatever it is, know that you will be putting more work in...

Are people fooling themselves by doing med science?

Literally anything you're interested in (could be engineering, commerce, economics, arts etc); there isn't a specific course you have to do. Also, I'm also not saying that you absolutely shouldn't do med science, because for some people, they do end up getting into medicine through it. But don't...

Are people fooling themselves by doing med science?

No worries, all good ... btw, are you trying to get into postgrad med or will you still try through the UG pathway?

Are people fooling themselves by doing med science?

I wasn't trying to promote it ... I just mentioned it if the OP wanted to consider it as a possibility; I've always advocated against degrees like those, as I was in a similar position myself (first year uni now) and was deciding between UNSW med science and another degree. In the end, I opted...

Are people fooling themselves by doing med science?

Oh yh, my bad ... I'm used to calling clinical sci, health sci as med sci (as they're essentially quite similar)

    Balancing stuff during holiday

As idkkdi said, it's really dependent on your ATAR goals and what is realistic (for e.g if you normally study for 4 hours a day, me telling you to ramp it up to 10 hours a day wouldn't be helpful nor would it be realistic). But I can provide something for some of the questions. 3) I would say...

Are people fooling themselves by doing med science?

If you do it at Macquarie University, I believe they provide GAMSAT training in the last year.

    Extension 2 english

I think you do, if I'm not mistaken. But I'm not sure if it counts towards your ATAR or not like with 4U Maths.

Are people fooling themselves by doing med science?

You can even try getting into undergraduate med again while doing any other course ... the key isn't to do medical science necessarily, but a degree you know you will enjoy, which will translate to good marks given hard work

Are people fooling themselves by doing med science?

There are quite a few disadvantages of doing med science as a pathway into med, which is why many people don't advocate for it. 1) Universities will advertise it as 'a pathway into medicine', which is just false. Every year, only around 10% of students applying for med will get in, which is a...

    a little confused

I'm not sure if this is right or not (someone can confirm with me), but in the HSC chemistry syllabus, they focus on what's called 'aliphatic chemistry', which is essentially compounds with an open chain structure, whereas 'aromatic chemistry' focuses on closed chain structures, like benzene. If...

Is a crappy ATAR gonna screw me?

That's so true; especially if you're an ethnic guy, you'll realise that your dad will often be on your side for many things (for e.g drinking or going out on late nights with mates), but it's always the mothers who end up correcting not only her son, but even her husband.

    atar to ter conversion

Haha, I completely forgot about my ATAR like a few days after it. Honestly doesn't mean anything once you get into the course you want to.

    Good Physics tutoring colleges?

From what I know, there's quite a few (Matrix, Dr Du, Intuition Education, Zhangs)

Best textbook for Physics and Chemistry

In general, I would recommend having multiple textbooks. If your school gives them to you for free (like my teacher gave us Jacaranda and In Focus on top of the Pearson), then that would be even better, because every textbook will have gaps or may have missing information. I understand though if...

Best textbook for Physics and Chemistry

For Chemistry, I would recommend Pearson, Surfing, Jacaranda and In Focus. I'd assume Physics would have the same companies of textbooks, but they may have different ones.

Is Ngo and sons good for english and math?

Agree, a private tutor for English is much better than a group centre, as they can accommodate to your style of learning, and obviously, not every school will be doing the same texts.

Is a crappy ATAR gonna screw me?

Agree ... for more clarity on things NOT to do, there is an extensive guide on Medical Students Online, a similar forum to BoS, but purely for medicine and dentistry. As others have said, if you wanted to consider going through the medical science route, note that it is very competitive, and...

    Scaling of subjects

Maybe what you could be more concerned about is if you will be able to manage the workload of 6 subjects (13 units). I know Year 11 marks don't count in the grand scheme of things for Year 12, but it is essentially a 'trial year' where you can work out your study routines, which subjects you...

    Economics HSC Exam Predictions/Thoughts

I'd say these types of videos or websites like Matrix are good for the M/C questions and subjects like Maths or Chemistry, where the question requires a numerical answer. For theory-heavy subjects like Economics, it's really hard to judge from a video for a short answer or extended response...
