do muslims care about what's happening in syria?

Muslims are required to take care of one another in Islam. If you look at protests/fundraisers recently in the Muslim community there has been A LOT for Syria, and recently more for those in Gaza as well. So yes.

    Differentiate pi^3

If you want something algebraic, imagine a constant, say 5, as actaully being 5(x)^0. Then when you begin taking the power and multiplying it by the function and subtracting the power by one, you end up multiplying by zero so it's 0. At least that's how I thought of it.

    maths textbooks

Cambridge, undoubtedly the best imo, if you want a GOOD understanding of the content. Sometimes they're a bit long, but once you get through them you'll be a genius on the topic. And of course has a huge range of questions, of which you should only do some, ideally most of developmental and not...

description and type of workload in economics

imo if you understand the content and have good exam skills Economics can be one of the easiest workloads. Almost becomes as simple as reading the textbook + maybe making notes and then just writing a few essay plans.

SDD Past Papers (New Syllabus) share thread

New syllabus hardly matters. Barely any significant changes on the whole, it's more of a restructuring.

    assistance for a laptop noob

Sounds like you need...a Mac! they are definitely NOT overrated, but they are very over priced, only because nothing is even close to competition. I used to be a Mac hater before, but once you start using them it's just 100x better than windows. Movies and sound, mac's great, medium large screen...

How to prepare for another year of university

If you don't particularly enjoy something, you'll need fairly strong motivation to keep doing it, in this case to put in hours and hours on end studying and what not. Figure out how much you like your course, and why you're doing it.

    Peace in the Middle East

The crater wouldn't work, because then everyone associated with the people who died would start fighting, but I guess that's not serious. The Muslims (and those in Palestine) will never settle for the state of Israel to exist. The zionists (and Israel) wil never give up their land either, and...

    The Grass Factor

This is a legitimate criterion on which to base your university selection. Would never go to a uni without grass.

Anybody doing both Maths and English Extension 2?

Not recommended imo unless you've done an accelerated the year before. 12 units with extension 2 doesn't sound very good to me. But if you can, it's great I guess

    Pronounce 'locus'

Just how you say fock-us, it's lock-us. This was a running joke for about a year for me.

General Thoughts: Software Design and Development

The answer to the EBNF was C right? like letterletternumberletterletter? Because from my calcs there could only be an odd number of only letters and that didn't exist. Or something. Lol I noticed that one too, but yeah said sorted by released date. For the positive integer counting one, I put...

General Thoughts: Software Design and Development

Finished in the end with about 15 minutes to go as well. But people I know who do reasonably well just finished in time though.

General Thoughts: Software Design and Development

Enjoyed it, thought I did pretty good. So many algorithms haha, I like them but I know people who hate them. I think overall it was far harder than the past five years just because of algorithms. Expecting the majority of the state to do poorly and for SDD to align very well this year.

    Impact of DET laptops

Laptops were the greatest thing ever imo. Firstly it provided a fun way to spend Yrs 9 and 10, seriously you could be doing anything behind the laptops and no one would know. Unlike most people my academic performance increase heaps after we got our laptops, because I began using it for...

Software Design & Development Marathon [2012]

There's a syllabus dotpoint on this which covers: -nature of the problem -available resources -efficiency of solution -programmer productivity (learning curve, use of reusable modules, speed of code generation, approach to testing) Mix with a bit of bullshit and it's an easy 4 marks.
