    BOS Showcase: 2005 Major Works

thankyou so very much for your kind words. your story was really amazing. i was drawn into the very amazing sensory sort of feeling in the opening altercation. your research is very very stringent, and the idea of bodies decomposing in the heat is very very beautiful, or perhaps not in the...

    BOS Showcase: 2005 Major Works

perhaps i would feel this is time for a sort of revelation of our works after submission, so i would like to post mine in this thread as per justin's instructions, i'm not entirely familiar with the concept of linking attachments and things, though i will try. i hope all of your works...

    ~6000 words vs ~8000 words

it might be somewhat different for different mediums in terms of marking, because i think one of the teachers who had marked poetry in ee2 said that he spent an hour reading each work, perhaps that sounds unlikely, though im fairly sure thats what he said

    Final presentation

our school has binded our works, which is nice. The only sort of extravagence that i am going to include is a conceptual image on the front cover and small markers at the foot of all the pages

    *salute* Here's my progress report!

often i found in the amalgamation of all my concepts into the reflection statement it can sometimes prove somewhat overwhelming just with the sheer complexity you are attempting to incorporate, i would encourage you to read through your reflection statement periodically so as to maintain a...

How Flexible is the RS Word Count?

i never implied anything about it being fair. i felt it was rather inconsistent with the markers to allow for such a long reflection statement, though it has been addressed in a previous thread as to how they calculate the word count, and how it might only be an approximation

How Flexible is the RS Word Count?

i have seen successful applicants with considerably larger reflection statements. i recall one containing 1830 words. i'm not sure whether it is closely monitored, though it would perhaps be noticeable if one was very very long

How much 'stuff' does everyone have in their journal?

i'm not entirely sure how large my journal may become. my journal has been sort of auxilliary to the development of my major work, ive recorded all my writing in another book, and transferred research and ideas periodically into my journal. It might comprise an entire a4 book once i include all...

The Official BOS 'Hoorah I'm Done!' Thread 2005

i feel i might have completed my work in it's entirety aswell. my teacher has advised me i have completed it anyway. perhaps all that remains is placing drafts into my journal and my work may be entirely finished, i'm not sure

    A crime to be cliche?

i'm sorry jusdorange, i didnt realise you had replied at the same time as i did, it seems i said exactly what you did

    A crime to be cliche?

its very interesting that a teacher for ee2 advised students not to pursue poetry as a medium. I'm not sure whether 'life experience' is a sort of constant prerequisite for poetry. it might be very very beneficial, but it might also depend on the form of poetry you might look to compose or...

    Journaling Around the trials

that would certainly validate your work, in that case i'm not really sure whether you would need to include entries during the trials, if you feel it'll detract from your work within other subjects

    Journaling Around the trials

i think there is going to be a very real emphasis on the journal this year to validate works in light of the 261 students who submitted works that might not have entirely been their own. having said that, i think the journal is really intended to reflect that the work is our own, so perhaps...

    *salute* Here's my progress report!

yesterday i was able to hopefully finish my entire collection of poems (my teacher advised me that it was at the ready) so at this point in time i am editing parts of my reflection statement (my initial word count was 1637, and i think i might be down to 1500)

    Finished internal assesment!

i'm sorry if i might be sounding a little bit cynical, but maybe there is a preference to postmodern works that are 'highly publishable' like what Gorgo said so that those that compile the showcase can 'showcase' the seemingly sophisticated, contemporary use of language in the ee2 course, and...

    Finished internal assesment!

i might have only seen one showcase collection, though i remember a considerable time ago one of the 2004 ee2 students believed that the works in the showcase contained some works with very very good or original concepts, and some that demonstrated very good composition skills, i'm not sure...

    Farewell 4unit (or E.E.2 rather)

i understand your disdain for post-modernist elements. I know there has been discussion of post-modern elements in this forum, and i dont feel you have a right to repress creative energies of composers in accordance with your own interpretation of literary concepts.

    Farewell 4unit (or E.E.2 rather)

futile blather is what my hsc work is all about, but yes...thats beside the point. feelings are a large part of this course, and i urge you to take them into account before providing any 'direct' criticism, without suggestion for improvement

    Farewell 4unit (or E.E.2 rather)

if you wish to offer criticism, than make it constructive, rather than using sarcastic remarks and words with negative connotation without any real suggestion for improvement. if you feel that is beyond your capabilities then the solution is to not comment at all

    Farewell 4unit (or E.E.2 rather)

i understand that perception of it, and it is a perfectly valid belief in this course, what makes the subject so diverse and amazing is the combination and embracing of so many different points of view. but i feel utilising this to the extent of belittling someone elses work is not a very kind...
