    Engineering Marathon

    bernoulli's principle works around the idea that as air accelerates, it looses pressure, and visa versa. the use of a venturi tube clearly shows this: the air to begin with has a constant velocity, and a constant pressure, as the air is forced into a smaller opening, it speeds up and thus...

    Engineering Marathon

    suggest how integrated systems in a hybrid vehicle may achieve improved energy efficiency compared with conventional petrol vehicles key word here is 'suggest' ... which means its up 4 interpritation, and basiically anythin can be the right answere, as long as you put up a good arguement, and...

    WOA WOA WOA!! STOP!! i get the 272*1-300*.5 part ... but where the hell did .87 come from?!

    Truss analysis marathon

    ShowStopper's right... R1 = 270 & R2 = 180 he just assumed that all the members were 1 unit long, and did a simple members equation to figure out each reaction eg. R1 = 300 x .5 + 30 x 1 + 120 x 1.5 - R2 x2 therefore R2 = 360 / 2 R2 = 180 R1 = 450 - 180 R1 = 270 Whats happening...

    Engineering Marathon

    as far as the exam goes, we will not be asked a question as complex as this, simply because we do not have the time to figure out all of the information. we will get a simple trussed bridge or cantilevered sign, and told to figure out the reactions at the attachment points in one question, and...

    Are you going to become an engineer?

    sounds like fun i dont wana sound like a Defence Force recruter here, but you can all do all of this at AFDA... your courses aare paid for (no HECS), you get paid a ton of money for studying there, and when you finish, your garinteed a job in your desired field!! job security is garinteed...

    truss analysis

    im not sure how to upload an image onto this page... could someone please find a picture or a simple trussed structute, and give us a question? because that way we can actually practice abit. cheers

    Engineering Drawings

    '... using the scale shown' simply means use the measurements they give you. do not measure it yourself, because you will get an inaccurate drawing

    a commutator is a part of an electric engine, and acts as a conductor for the bruches and the magnets... as to exactly how it goes about doing that (and for that matter, any additional information about a commutator) i do not know

    Engineering Drawings

    that actually sounds extreemly accurate... however... if the question asks: 'draw this object', then by definition, you should use instruments to achieve all the avaliable marks... but if the question asks 'sketch this object', then it means do a quick sketch as acurate as you can get it to...

    truss analysis

    thats very helpful, yes, in finding the reactions on either side of the trussed structure... but what if after that, the question asked: 'find whats happening in member d-e' assuming its a simple truss configuration, and the members are named with a letter at each of the joints, and a member...

    Engineering=Easy

    Maths is a big part of Engineering, but thats it, its only a part. . . There are many other different parts to engineering that just baffles me... Ive tried doing practice questions for Engineering on the Board of Studies website. Theyre only munti-choice questions, but theyre good practice...

    Engineering=Easy

    Lets just hope that the exam on Wednesday is going to be relatively easy. Ive tried doing all the past papers, going to my teacher for advice, and getting as much information from these forums as I can... But I still dont quite feel fully prepared. Does anyone else feel the same?

    Engineering=Easy

    thats wat i really dont like... big headed geneuses who ace every test, and come top of the class without even trying... and then redicule you for getting a lower mark then them, when you put your heart and soal into getting the best mark you can with what you got.
