Well, its feels sort of weird for me to be here :-) RobC

Well, I can just apologise. We think it was a reasonable test, and it had to be that big in order to test that area appropriately. Hope you did OK on it ! RobC

    Finals...

Not necessarily. Depends on size of writing, etc. But generally in the past I have found that students who are very confident of their answers tend to write less. HOWEVER, that is a risky strategy. That person showed very little workings, so if they had gotten something wrong, they would not...

Well, I marked that. We just wanted people to tell us how accounts increased, i.e. which amounts got added where. Start with an opening balance, and finish with a closing balance. Easy !?! Having said that, a lot of people did this one badly. However, space consumed is not necessarily related...

What do you think of the lecturers so far?

Hmm, in a hundred words or less, what exactly do you mean by "crazy Robert"? RobertC

What was the website that tells you the number of people in a subject?

OMG, the fact I have young nephews means I actually "get" the Bob the builder reference. How sick is that? Or how sick is the footnote in the ditty ("ref to journals n ledgers"). O, and T-i-B, if you want my autograph, you know where to get it. Lurv yr avatar  --> Think I'll save...

You're right. My brain must be offline. RobC

What was the website that tells you the number of people in a subject?

Oh, so the stats are collected from enrolments in subjects, rather than actual attendance in rooms ? RobC

What was the website that tells you the number of people in a subject?

I don't get the point of this. I have had anywhere from 900 to 1300 students in my classes. When I book lecture theatres for my subjects, I ask for something of size >= X + some allowance for the fact that enrolments may blow out, since UNSW is pathetic at predicting how many students I'll...

The Truth And Nothing But The Truth So Thank You Rorbert

Where do you people get these rumours about failure rates. I'm lecturerin charge, so I should know, and the long run average is nowhere near as high as the lowest of the numbers mentioned. In fact, it hasn't been anywhere near 20 for any session 1 offering of the subject for ages. Mind you...

Ah, that is a complicated issue (about Michael). Basically, he got a better offer. Now, where are those "jokes".... Oh, BoredofStudies doesn't really work as a consultation forum, does it (hope not) RobC

Well, have to stop now. Angel is on in a minute, then DS9 on TV1. Now TV addiction. Better get tea and cake (succesfully impersonating an old fart). BTW: confirm that you are the person I saw today, as well as that time outside Burwood station ? Time for my Bex and a good lie down...

Yes, it is really me. If you don't believe me, visit me in my office sometime soon, and be impressed by my expresso machine (still in box) which I just bought today. Who else would have that info - hmmm, except for the person who put me onto this forum... danr, that doesn't work. Cackle...

Goban: professional ethics and all that stuff means that your supp or lack thereof will be considered on its merits, not on sucking up to me in a discussion forum :-) <insert cackle here> Now I'm really going home.... RobC

Nah, back on 1A again. Claudia's going to be lecturer in charge, so I have to help "break her in", so to speak. Anyway, time to get the $%^&* out of here. 7pm on a THU night, n I'm still @ Uni. RobC

Bwu ha ha ha ha (general cackle type behaviour) Yes, it is I, your nemesis, and I have just finished marking, and I hated it :-) How do you know you failed? I haven't even collated the marks yet. I know people sucked on some questions, but did OK on others, so who knows... Anyhow...
