i would rather read the whole speech then time myself because your pace may vary through the speech. The wordcount:time ratio depends on how fast/clearly you speak...for example in my physics speech i was able to finish 750 words in 3 minutes 30 seconds whereas some people had around 690 words...

find equation of circle for z-1/z+i = +- pi/4 ... stuff like that... i remember i had to use circle geometry and some easy trig.

applying trig stuff like double angle formulas in complex numbers? e.g find the modulus/argument of 1 + costheta + i sin theta or something similar to that.

i cant remember wat the question was exactly but it was like solve z^6 = a +ib ... a and b were integers and i cant remember them...there were much more harder questions i had to worry about =(

i went there for chemistry....my rank went from 64th in half yearly to 11th in yearly (2nd in my chem prac) at a selective high school...so i guess it did help me quite alot... but it does have its downsides....the bit about marking is partially true...some markers only read like a couple of...
