    Apparent Brightness q

I find the distance modulus formula is easier to remember as: M=m-5log(d/10) where M = absolute magnitude m = apparent magnitude d = distance (parsecs) Then in altering that to find d: d = 10*10^((m-M)/5) ... which is much more accurate than other methods

Is your SDD teacher as crap as mine?

lol yeah, when you comapre the ratio of people in private schools who actually want to do well against many in the public schools that don't care and will probably end up on the dole :) But yeah, I'm pretty sure my comment is true, as I've heard it quite a lot. hmm, back to the software...

Is your SDD teacher as crap as mine?

happysnapper, yep I think that's what I'll have to resort to as well, though the syllabus is also rooted as they are not actually dot points such as subjects like chemistry or physics. The SDD syllabus just lists everything in the text book, one thing after the other :( slide rule, that...

Is your SDD teacher as crap as mine?

Yeah I see your point that there's more money elsewhere for teachers, but the one's that are unfortunate to be in the teaching industry (my parents included) should at least care about offering their students the best opportunity to do the best they can achieve in the hsc. And atm, this is...

    Your languages

Visual Basic is all we've ever been taught in the SDD course and it's probably all we'll ever be taught in the SDD course..... it's all the teacher knows! Other than that, back in year 9 we learnt a little bit of python as an off-side thing that I have now completely forgot.

Is your SDD teacher as crap as mine?

Half-Yearlies and I'm thinking that Software will be my weakest subject >> luckily I'm doing 12 units :) The reason it will be and most likely already is my weakest subject is not necessarily because of a fault of my own. Here's the story (in point form for your convenience): 1) Start...

    SDD Major Project Ideas

We were also allowed to do whatever we wanted. I decided to do (or am currently trying to create) a simple personal payroll program.... i.e. something where the employee (user) simply enters in their details and their employers details, then during the week they enter in how many hours they...

    Jobs in Australia

I think the IT industry is just being choked with so many people wanting to get into it. I think it'd be worth going into the industry if you can specialise in a new area which is in high demand (cannot think of any examples atm :)) For instance it'd be very hard to start-up a general...

    too many units?? advice?

I think there r statisctics somewhere for the 2002 maybe 2003 hsc which had that 85% of students who did more than 10 units in year 12 got a 90 or higher uai prove me wrong! :D

    too many units?? advice?

yep - I think I'm likely to be doing 12 or 13 units in year 12 cos if you stuff up in the exam in one of the subjects then your best 10 units are taken and so gives you the safety. plus I'm doing accelerated maths so that exam (2 unit) should be out of the way this year if I do well in the...

This year (year 11) I'm doing software, but thinking of dropping it cos I have too many subjects and no study periods that I can do homework and assignments in. This entire term we have been making an address book in VB and haven't really progressed to much. I finding it slightly boring and...
